PBS KIDS Sprout(SM) Relaunches Website With Preschooler Generated Content, Parent Blogs, Games and More

Announces national contest to promote the site's "My Refrigerator" section, the first user-generated, art sharing online community for preschoolers and their families

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- PBS KIDS Sprout, the first and only 24-hour preschool destination available on TV, on demand and online for kids ages 2-5 and their parents and caregivers, has enhanced its Webby Award- winning website, http://www.sproutonline.com/, to feature preschooler generated content, parent blogs, new games, character pages and more. The site's password protected "My Refrigerator" section, the first user-generated, art sharing online community for preschoolers and their families, allows parents to upload their children's favorite photos and homemade artwork; communicate with friends and family through the private Sprout Mail center; keep track of their preschooler's favorite games and activities; and view fun event dates and activity recommendations from Sprout.

"My Refrigerator" allows preschoolers and their families to create their very own virtual refrigerator displaying their photos and artwork (just like they would on their fridge at home), and even send email to their friends and other family members. Parents can also choose to share their child's artwork and photos in the Sprout Sharing Galleries, which can be viewed by other SproutOnline.com registered visitors and may even be shown on-air.

Beginning today, visitors to SproutOnline.com can upload photos of their "Sprouterrific" refrigerator at home showing off their family photos, children's artwork and even pictures of their favorite Sprout friends, for a chance to win a new home computer with kid-friendly accessories courtesy of Chester Creek Technologies, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of innovative computer keyboards and mice for children and people with special needs. All photos must be submitted online by October 15, 2007. Visit http://www.sproutonline.com/ for official rules and requirements.

"We know that moms, dads and preschoolers are coming online to interact with Sprout and our characters, get craft ideas and play games," said Eileen Diskin, vice president of marketing for PBS KIDS Sprout, "Our newly enhanced and expanded website is just one more way that Sprout is bringing parents and preschoolers together to share entertaining and fun moments within the child's world."

Moms and dads can also upload photos of their children and add their favorite character to the picture to create a fun "Photo Mash Up," or help their preschooler create their very own masterpiece in the Sprout Art Studio. All of these creations can be posted on the family's refrigerator page and shared with family and friends.

Also launching today on SproutOnline.com is "Sprout For Parents," a special online gathering spot for moms and dads to share, learn and get ideas. It will feature articles and accompanying blogs on subjects that are of interest to parents of small children - everything from ideas for ways to play together to advice on helping kids develop healthy eating habits. Each topic begins with an expert opinion from leaders in issues of importance to children and families, such as Sesame Street and KidsHealth, and continues with contributions from parents. Diana Capriotti, a full-time mother of three, will moderate "Sprout For Parents," fostering dialogue between the experts and caregivers.
