Mariane Pearl To Deliver Keynote Address at 21st Annual NAMIC Conference

NEW YORK, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning Journalist and Author, Mariane Pearl will deliver a keynote address at the 21st Annual NAMIC Conference scheduled for September 16-18, 2007 at the Hilton New York in Manhattan. Presented annually by the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC), the three-day conference is held in conjunction with Cable Diversity Week. Pearl will give the opening message on Tuesday, September 18.

The widow of Daniel Pearl, The Wall Street Journal reporter slain by a militant Islamic fundamentalist group in Pakistan in 2002, Pearl is the co-founder of the Daniel Pearl Foundation. Created to further the ideas that inspired her late husband's life and work, the Daniel Pearl Foundation promotes cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music and innovative communications.

Pearl is the author of A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl, a non-fiction work that depicts Daniel Pearl as he was when he was alive, while also providing a first person account of his disappearance and death. The feature film adaptation of the book, A Mighty Heart, stars Angelina Jolie as Mariane, and is currently playing in theaters. At present, Pearl is a Reporter and Global Diary Columnist for Glamour magazine.

The Walter Kaitz Foundation is the Presenting Sponsor of Pearl's keynote address and a General Session that will follow her remarks. The conference General Session, entitled "The Media and the Minds of the Masses: Cultural Awareness vs. Cultural Wariness," will examine the impact of the media's representation of ethnic groups. iNDEMAND Networks is also a co-sponsor.
