Swedish Production Company Bringiton Launches New Shopping Game Show 'Big Time Spender' for China Entertainment Television

BEIJING, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- At a press conference held at the Beijing Ritz Carlton, China Entertainment Television ("CETV") and Swedish production company Bringiton announced the kick-off of the super prize shopping game show "Big Time Spender", which also coincided with the roll-out of the nationwide recruitment for contestants in the show. The event, hosted by super-host Jacky Wu and CETV's own Bin Yang, was attended by management representatives from CETV, Bringiton, and Starup Investments, along with artists Pace Wu and Eric Suen, as along with representatives from over 100 domestic Mainland China and International media and press agencies. This marks the first project sold by a Western European production company to CETV.

Shop Across China -- The Prize ... $1 million

The heavyweight "Big Time Spender" is a smart shopping game series produced by CETV and Bringiton, and takes place across 12 distinct and unique Chinese cities including Dalian, Beijing, Chengdu, Xian, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Kunming, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Haikou, and Hong Kong. The 32 contestants are provided with predetermined budgets, and are tasked with completing various shopping challenges within set time limits, each challenge increasing in difficulty through each round. The show is unique in that it combines the elements of an entertaining game show, with the unique sights and surroundings of each location city. The competition through the various rounds require contestants to have aesthetic judgment and price sense, along with familiarity of consumer brands, the cultures and customs of different Chinese cities. It is not simply a question of spending money while shopping; rather contestants are challenged on strategy and team spirit, all while under varying constraints of time and money, as well as physical and mental factors.

The winners in each episode will be able to take home everything they have shopped and won in the competition for that round, and can progress to the next stage to be one step closer to the final round to be held in Hong Kong. Here, the finalists will compete for and have the opportunity to win fabulous prizes amounting to HK$1 million in value. Audiences and viewers at home will also have their chance to participate in the show, where they will have the opportunity to win prizes in lucky draws - further details will be revealed once the show is launched. Simply put, "Big Time Spender" is a show that will combine all the crazy and fun elements of shopping, with a big prize for the winners.

Nationwide Recruitment for "Big Time Spender"

Recruitment for contestants from all across China has begun. "Big Time Spender" will be co-hosted by the "King of Entertainment", Jacky Wu and CETV's own Bin Yang. With over 20 years in the business, Jacky is renowned for his humorous, smart and quick-witted response, which has won him many accolades across Greater China. Bin Yang, one of the most longest-serving and also most popular hosts at CETV, has got shopping know-how, whether for top-notch brands or cool and funky items at the roadside flea market. The two prominent hosts will be partnering up for the first time in "Big Time Spender" much to the delight of viewers.

The judging panel for the show will consist of a whole host of celebrities including, among others, Tao Ching-Ying (top talk-show and game-show host from Taiwan), Regine Li (nicknamed the "Shopping Queen of Taiwan"), Lou Zhi-Xian, Richie Jen, Leo Ku, Ju Ying, Kristy Yeung and Eric Suen. The judges, all leading artists and entertainers from Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, will be making incisive comments on the performance of the contestants in each episode, while sharing with audiences their own insights and philosophies on shopping.
