Prem Rawat's 'Words of Peace' on TV on Five Continents
LOS ANGELES, July 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Since the first satellite broadcasts of "Words of Peace" in the US in 1999, cable and satellite stations throughout Europe, North and South America, and Asia have picked up Prem Rawat's message of inspiration and hope to millions of households, with subtitles or translation in more than 20 languages.
Infinito Channel now broadcasts "Words of Peace" to nearly thirteen million homes throughout South America, as well as to Mexico and some parts of the US and Canada, in most places two times a week. In Brazil, "Words of Peace" has twice received the Brazilian Association of Community Television Channels' highest award in the last three years. Comments of appreciation from viewers abound, asking for more information. Carlos B. of Sao Paulo e-mailed his local TV station, "Every time I listen to Prem Rawat's talks on TV, I learn so much and my life goes through substantial changes. Thanks a million. How can I find out more?" In Colombia, Professor Miguel A. wrote, "This program shows people how to bring peace to the world."
Viewer responses have been particularly enthusiastic in Australia where "Words of Peace" airs between two and five times a week in all the major cities on Channel 31 and some local channels. Over 5,000 viewers have already requested to be notified when Prem Rawat next comes to Australia. Derek B. from Melbourne wrote, "I began listening to 'Words of Peace' with my usual cynicism. But soon what Prem Rawat was saying made me start to think about my life and give me hope that maybe the best is yet to come." Flora N. of Brisbane said, "It was a fantastic program, and I think we need it in the world we live in." In Fiji, the program is aired on the island's only local channel, and in New Zealand it is carried by two channels to over a million households.
In Taiwan, Prem Rawat's addresses are shown on both paid and free channels in English with Chinese subtitles. A surprised physics professor commented, "The first three times I listened to Prem Rawat, I felt nothing. But the fourth time, I found his message more interesting than physics." Another viewer wrote, "I am a busy engineer in Taiwan. Prem Rawat's every word enables me to feel such a rest, such a peace." In India, where many homes do not have access to cable programming, Prem Rawat's addresses are brought to hundreds of thousands of people in villages as well as large cities via satellite broadcast to venues where people come to watch. Each month, an average of 675,000 people come to the download venues to listen to one or more of the 480 weekly broadcasts in 10 languages.
European cable channels bring "Words of Peace" programs to millions of homes throughout Europe and the UK on a daily basis in English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Greek, Hebrew, Dutch, Russian, Catalan, and Tamil.
Equally popular in the US, it is estimated that 200 local cable networks air Prem Rawat's addresses weekly in 33 states, reaching tens of millions of households.
Prem Rawat, known widely as Maharaji, travels around the world almost constantly, speaking in large forums and small. The material for the "Words of Peace" series comes from these addresses.
