OSU Baseball Team Demo the Byers Family Home on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

OSU Baseball Team Demo the Byers Family Home on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

National Baseball Champions get involved with the Demolition of the Byers family home in preparation for the Extreme build.

CORVALLIS, Ore., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- This morning, 25 Legend Homes' employees along with hundreds of partners, subcontractors and community volunteers joined Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's Ty Pennington and the rest of the design team as they charged toward the Byers family home in a symbolic gesture of power and unity that has become a hallmark of the show.

Following the charge, Jim Chapman, president of Legend Homes, gathered all the volunteers together and passionately stated: "you all know why we're here ... there is a little girl who desperately needs our help. She's only eight years old and struggling with a very rare form of childhood cancer. I know everyone here has been touched by her constant fight for survival and contributions to other children battling the same disease. Many of you may know someone, a friend or a family member who have survived it, and they are living proof that it can be done! Legend Homes and all the wonderful volunteers here and willing to do whatever it takes to build this little girl a safe, healthy beautiful home."

Following his speech, the OSU baseball team rushed towards the house wearing helmets and swinging bats, on a mission to destroy the home and get ready for a newer, healthier, and more energy efficient home for Jenessa Byers and her family. After the Baseball champions had sufficiently done their damage, the school's mascot, Benny the Beaver, bulldozed the house wearing a yellow Extreme Makeover: Home Edition hard hat, laying the foundation for the beautiful dream home to come.

In a hectic, but exciting, weeklong period, the existing home will be replaced with an extreme made-over home. Construction is expected to be complete by Saturday July 14, when the Byers family returns from vacation to see their new home for the first time.

Legend Homes encourages you to get involved and help this deserving family realize their dream of living in a safe, clean and environmentally green home that doesn't threaten Boey's or Joe's health.
