Daily Newscasts to Feature Live WeatherBug Information from Local School Districts and Downtown Locations

MIAMI, Fla., and GERMANTOWN, Md., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- WeatherBug(R), the leading provider of live, local weather information services, and WFOR- TV/CBS4 today announced the two companies have partnered to provide viewers with live, local weather information and content in the morning, afternoon, evening and online.

Launched today, CBS4's weather team, Chief Meteorologist David Bernard, Hurricane Expert Bryan Norcross, meteorologists Craig Setzer and Jeff Berardelli, morning weather anchor Lissette Gonzalez and weekend meteorologist Erin Coakley, will now be able to incorporate live, local weather information from 100 WeatherBug Tracking Stations, located primarily atop schools in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area, into their daily weather coverage. Additionally, CBS4 will be able to tap into the national network of WeatherBug Tracking Stations for live weather conditions and severe weather coverage from around the nation.

WeatherBug maintains the largest weather network in the world. It combines live weather sensors and cameras located primarily atop schools, with publicly available weather data from around the world, to deliver weather information with a degree of accuracy, precision and timeliness unmatched in the industry. The live, local weather conditions are delivered to millions of consumers via the Internet and mobile devices, more than 100 state and local government agencies including the National Weather Service, and to schools, businesses and 80 broadcast television stations throughout the country.

With access to the WeatherBug Tracking Stations, CBS4 will be able to report on live weather conditions at area schools and downtown locations, provide severe weather alerts and track changes in weather conditions such as heat index and wind speed.

For instance, CBS4 will also be able to feature stations from the local area such as Dolphin Stadium, the Miami Museum of Science, and the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, during their daily broadcast. As a result, local communities across the viewing area will become an integral part of the CBS4 news program. In comparison, other local newscasts primarily rely on 16 weather stations located at airports and government facilities in the South Florida area. CBS4 will also offer viewers WeatherBug reports via its Web site at http://www.cbs4.com/ .
