Located in the heart of Venice's famed Abbot Kinney Boulevard, The QuikSilverEdition Mission is a temporary project and a physical space where the unique spirit of the California coast will be nurtured, shared and taught. The program, which presents a progressive model for community integration and corporate responsibility, balances arts and entertainment with summer fun while still maintaining the laid back attitude and maverick spirit of the surf industry. In true QuikSilverEdition fashion, every weekend is a long weekend at the Mission. Beginning tonight and continuing throughout the summer, the QuikSilverEdition Mission will be open to the public from Thursday through Sunday during select hours.
Opening Weekend festivities include a special Thursday night outdoor screening of the award-winning documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car" hosted by Global Inheritance and the film's director Chris Paine. Friday night will bring together artists, athletes, celebrities, coastal luminaries and members of the community for a special grand opening party. Guests will enjoy a temporary art installation by Southern California artist Scott Richards, a tequila tasting with the experts from Tequila Herradura, a pouring of Longboard Vineyards' selection of fine wines and an intimate screening of Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama's recent film, "A Path of Purpose."
Saturday morning, YogaWorks will host a session of "Yoga for Surfers," their free weekly yoga class designed for surfers and aspiring boardriders. Following Yoga will be a casual BBQ and the first installment of the "Missionary Speaker Series" with a presentation about balanced personal health by a group of UCLA doctors led by Christopher S. Saigal M.D. M.P.H. On Sunday, kids and adults are invited to roll with the Mission on a casual bike tour of Venice's best murals and street-side art.
The Grand Opening Weekend at the QuikSilverEdition Mission is only a sampling of the eclectic happenings that are scheduled at the space from June through August. Throughout the summer, the QuikSilverEdition Mission will host weekly outdoor film screenings, a revolving art gallery, a series of casual concerts, guided bike rides and walks, free yoga, community workshops (covering everything from green building techniques to nutrition), mentoring programs, surf lessons, tequila and wine tastings, BBQs and more.

About the QuikSilverEdition Mission
The QuikSilverEdition Mission is a temporary project and a physical space -- a place where artists and designers join the surfers and the suits to swap travel stories, meet their heroes, tune up their ten-speeds or just relax with a few cocktails at the bar.
It is our mission to create a place where the unique spirit of the California coast will be nurtured, shared and taught. By combining social gatherings, art events and educational forums we pay tribute to the pillars of our community's strength. The Mission on Abbot Kinney intends to ensure a sustainable natural environment, a welcome and creative society and the freedom to enjoy life's easy pleasures.
The QuikSilverEdition Mission is made possible by its network of creative and innovative partners. Special thanks to The Mission, Global Inheritance, Stoked Mentoring, YogaWorks, Plantronics, Altec Lansing, Peroni, Tequila Herradura, Longboard Vineyards, Jack Daniels, Hint Water and Redbull.
The QuikSilverEdition Mission is located at 1621 Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Venice 90291.
