Ness Technologies Wins Deal With ITV plc - UK's Largest Commercial Broadcaster
Ness Technologies Wins Deal With ITV plc - UK's Largest Commercial Broadcaster
MAIDENHEAD and BERKSHIRE, England, June 21/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ness Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: NSTC), a global provider of information
technology services and solutions, today announced that its Ness UK
subsidiary has been awarded a two-year contract to provide its unique iRights
contract and payments solution to ITV, the UK's largest commercial
broadcaster. iRights will power ITV's new Contracts and Artist Payments
System (CAPS).
CAPS is the result of a two year project to standardise the way on-screen
talent is contracted and compensated across the ITV network. After ITV plc
was formed in 2004, a number of discrete systems existed to administrate
these processes. CAPS will replace these legacy systems with one fast,
integrated and efficient solution.
As part of this initiative Ness has signed an exclusive license deal with
FremantleMedia Ltd., one of the largest international creators and producers
of television programs, to combine FremantleMedia's market-leading Artiste
Payments system, which provides both production payroll and secondary
residuals payment functionality, with Ness' iRights product in order to
provide ITV with a state-of-the-art and proven solution for the CAPS project.
The Artiste Payments system and iRights are both built using Ness
Technologies' USoft software development platform.
Ness will be providing systems integration, development and support
services to ITV at ITV's Manchester offices, and will be developing version 6
of the iRights solution from its labs in Mumbai, India.
iRights is a comprehensive rights contract management system for
broadcasters, publishers, film makers, mobile operators, content providers
and aggregators. Version 6 of iRights represents a significant extension to
the product that will benefit all potential users of iRights who wish to
integrate their rights, contracts and royalty processing.
"We are delighted to be working with Ness on this important project,"
said Mike Green, Deputy Group Finance Director of ITV plc. "Content
innovation and exploitation is at the heart of ITV's strategy and having
modern, future proofed systems to support that strategy is a fundamental
requirement."
"ITV's selection of Ness Technologies' iRights is testament to the high
quality of this critical solution. We are pleased that we can help in the
important issues of contract management and payment of contributors," said
Sachi Gerlitz, President and CEO of Ness Technologies. "The need to protect
content, to track content usage, and subsequently to remunerate content
owners has become a serious issue."
"This contract with the UK's largest commercial broadcaster demonstrates
Ness UK's unique business and technology understanding of the complex
business rules and processes required in the rapidly evolving media
business," said Peter Sutton, Managing Director of Ness UK. "This will ensure
that artistes contractual rights and resulting payments are managed and
accounted for within one system, and prove how these complex rules can be
successfully harnessed in a flexible integrated technology solution to
transform ITV's business."
The specialist media practice of Ness is operated from the UK subsidiary
and has been working with leading TV broadcasters in the UK for over 10
years.
