VH1 Rock Honors salutes music's biggest and best bands -- those who changed the course of music history, influenced generations of musicians, and claimed legions of fans. The 2007 edition is all about four artists: Genesis, Heart, Ozzy Osbourne and ZZ Top, and all of the honorees will perform. Other acts that will rock the house on May 24 from The Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas include Keane, Nickelback, Queens of the Stone Age, and Gretchen Wilson with Alice in Chains. This is the first time the VH1 Rock Honors will be broadcast in SRS Circle Surround.

The 91st Indianapolis 500, which takes place on May 27, will be broadcast for the first time in SRS Circle Surround on the ABC network. Then, starting on July 29 and running through November 18, 17 NASCAR races will be transmitted in SRS Circle Surround on ESPN, another first for SRS Labs. With SRS Circle Surround, millions of racing fans will experience the sensation of being at the race from the comfort of their own home. When using SRS Circle Surround, professional audio engineers can encode up to 6.1 channels of discrete audio for distribution or broadcast over existing two-channel carriers such as SD and HD television, analog and digital radio, streaming media and CDs.

"We are excited that SRS Circle Surround continues to be selected as the multichannel broadcast technology of choice," said Mike Canevaro, senior director of business development, SRS Labs. "Trend-setting networks, such as VH1 and ESPN, understand the benefits of offering surround sound programming to their audiences and we know listeners will enjoy the high quality surround experience provided by SRS Circle Surround. We look forward to working on many more programs such as these."

Later this year, for the fourth year in a row, ESPN, ESPN 2 and ABC will deliver the Summer X Games in SRS Circle Surround. The Summer X Games 13, which runs from August 2 through August 5, will feature over 25 hours of live programming in SRS Circle Surround. Millions of fans will have the opportunity to enjoy their favorite X Games events in full 5.1 surround through any surround-capable home theater system.

"SRS Circle Surround has created a fantastic sounding 'plug and play' format for us," said Ron Scalise, Remote Operations Audio Project Manager, ESPN. "It makes it seamless to deliver the quantity of high impact events that we are known for with the operational simplicity that SRS Circle Surround provides. It has proven to be a very effective way to produce and move surround content during remote production with a high success rate. In an industry with varying combinations of delivery formats, it would be hard for us to deliver the high impact events we are known for without SRS Circle Surround."

SRS Circle Surround encoding is backward compatible with all playback systems, including mono and stereo formats. Listeners of any CS-encoded broadcast who have a Circle Surround or other matrix surround decoder installed, will hear stunning 5.1 surround sound, while those listening over regular two-speaker stereo systems will hear the broadcast in enhanced stereo.

To date, over 500 million television viewers have experienced Circle Surround, and over 300,000 DVDs and CDs have been distributed that have been surround-encoded using SRS Circle Surround. The technology continues to be a popular choice for broadcasters and professional audio mixers due to its flexibility, ease-of-use, and overall audio performance. Top television broadcasters in the United States and abroad, who have transmitted Circle Surround-encoded programs include, but are not limited to, ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN, FOX, MBS (Japan), GAORA (Japan), Sapporo Television Broadcasting (Japan), Swedish Television (Sweden), Beijing TV (China), and BBC (Great Britain), for dozens of programs including the 55th Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards, X Games, NFL and NBA broadcasts, Saturday Night Live, Japan Open Golf Tournament, World Cup Ski Tournament, and more.

About SRS Circle Surround

Radio and television stations across the world use SRS Circle Surround encoding technology to deliver full-bandwidth 6.1 channel surround sound content over any stereo transmission path. SRS Circle Surround encoded signals are not only compatible with mono, stereo, LCRS, and SRS Circle Surround decoders, but they also provide a natural sounding stereo and Lt/Rt mix when no decoder is present.

When decoded with Circle Surround II, the listener hears the complete multichannel mix. In addition, Circle Surround encoding is fully compatible with other matrix decoders limited only by the capabilities on the specific decoder.

SRS Circle Surround II decoders also enhance dialog clarity and optimize bass response using patented SRS TruBass(R) which creates the perception of bass below the low frequency limitations of speakers and headphones.
