Platform International Animation Festival Announces Complete Line-Up for Competition

Festival Program to Include Special Screening of Snow White

PORTLAND, Ore., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- PLATFORM International Animation Festival announces the new media and mobile devices selections, finalizing the complete line-up for competition debuting in Portland, Oregon, June 25-30, 2007. The festival competition will include categories covering commercial and independent films, student animation and films for new platforms, including indoor and outdoor installations, cell phones and internet. Winners of all the competitions will be announced during the closing ceremonies of the festival on June 30, 2007. In total, more than $50,000 will be awarded.

"We feel that we have accomplished our goal of making the festival a literal platform for artists, innovation and discussion," said festival director Irene Kotlarz. "We had to make some extremely tough decisions, but feel that the work that was selected for competition represents both a wide sampling of different types of work and the best of the best in each category."

Animation fans, professionals and families with kids of all ages will find lots of great animation on view during the Festival, including special screenings and events. To mark the seventieth anniversary of the film that started the Hollywood animated feature business, Platform is offering a rare opportunity to view Walt Disney's SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS on the big screen, introduced by Academy Award-winning director and historian John Canemaker PLATFORM plans to announce its entire program of events, including the daily family fun, in early June.
