Bryant Teams Up with Racing Great Michael Andretti in 91st Indy 500
Sponsorship of Second IndyCar Driver Puts Bryant on Both
Andretti and Tony Kanaan's Cars at 'Greatest Spectacle in Racing'
INDIANAPOLIS, April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems, the longest-running, non-automotive sponsor of Indy 500 racing teams, is proud to announce that it will sponsor Michael Andretti of the Andretti Green Racing (AGR) team in the 91st running of the Indianapolis 500. Bryant, which will now be represented by two cars in the race, is also a 2007 IndyCar Series sponsor of AGR driver Tony Kanaan.
Andretti, who has one of the most impressive driving records in the history of American racing, has won 42 times in 316 starts. Leading the 2006 Indy 500 with just three laps to go, Andretti finished third after a shoot-out in the last lap with son Marco and winner Sam Hornish, Jr. In this year's Indy 500, he joins the AGR lineup with the Bryant logo displayed on his #39 racecar. "We are proud to be backed by Bryant, a company that, every day, demonstrates dedication to excellence and a commitment to reliability," said Andretti.
"We are thrilled about Michael's return to the Indy 500. The Andretti family is renowned in IndyCar racing, and we are proud to be associated with a winning organization that has such a strong history," said Kevin Dudash, Bryant brand manager. "Michael is a true racing legend. And, this is another great opportunity to showcase the Bryant brand with a driver and team who truly demonstrate the Whatever It Takes attitude of Bryant dealers across the country."
Andretti currently serves as chairman of the board of AGR, which he co- founded in 2002 with partners Kim Green and Kevin Savoree. AGR is the second most winning team in the history of the IndyCar Series, collecting 23 IndyCar Series victories and winning the 2004 and 2005 IndyCar Series championships. In 2005, the AGR team competed in, and won "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," the Indy 500. Last year, AGR had eight podium finishes including two wins.
Bryant traces its racing roots back to the 1958 race when Indianapolis- based Eddie Johnson became the company's first Indy 500 qualifier. Over the years, the Bryant logo has been featured on 50 race cars in the famous race for the checkered flag at the "Brickyard."
"We look forward to welcoming our dealers for the 42nd year at the Indy 500," said Dudash. "And, we will continue to meet with them at many IndyCar Series events throughout the year to recognize them for doing Whatever It Takes for Bryant customers." In addition to recognizing the outstanding service of Bryant dealers, IndyCar Series events also give Bryant an opportunity to extend a welcome to new dealers who might be interested in joining the Bryant team.
Bryant encourages dealers who are interested in attending the 91st Indianapolis 500, or one of the other stops on the IndyCar Series, to contact their Bryant distributor.
