An invitation-only reception and screening of HBO's innovative multimedia campaign, "Addiction," will be hosted by HBO in partnership with Detroit Recovery Project, Inc. and National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence - Greater Detroit Area. The event will preview a feature-length documentary that is the centerpiece of the campaign, followed by a panel discussion of local experts.
"Addiction" makes its television debut Thursday, March 15 - Comcast will open up the HBO feed for the Detroit area that day so that any cable subscriber will be able to view it.
The "Addiction" campaign will use documentaries, books, and an enriched website to look into the complex dimensions of addiction, treatment, and recovery. In addition to interviews with the nation's leading experts, the documentary and its supplemental content explore innovative family training and treatment approaches, successful drug court programs that reduce relapses and re-arrests; addiction in the workplace; the protracted insurance battles waged by families; and the difficulty of finding and getting adequate treatment.
