CBS SportsLine Relaunches Community Arena in Time for Madness
Superstar Members Have Ability to Cover March Madness Games on CBS SportsLine.com
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- CBS SportsLine, a leading Internet sports media organization and part of CBS Interactive, today unveiled a completely redesigned Community homepage, allowing registered users even more ways to contribute to the site and interact with fellow members.
Located at www.sportsline.com/community, CBS SportsLine's revamped Community arena allows members to develop a "reputation" on the site by not only contributing to the message boards of their choice, but also by connecting with other users, participating in fantasy games and by the overall frequency of their behavior.
After registering as a CBS SportsLine.com Community member, users will have access to their own robust profile page which they can personalize with an avatar or logo, thus beginning the process of developing a reputation within the CBS SportsLine.com Community.
All members begin as "Amateurs" and depending on their activity ascend to "Rookie," "Pro," "All-Star" and eventually to the realm of the "Superstar" member -- bona fide celebrities in the CBS SportsLine.com Community. Superstar members represent the top 5% of all CBS SportsLine.com Community users and as such are awarded special rights and privileges on the site.
The first such example of these privileges will be evident beginning with the start of the NCAA(R) Division I Men's Basketball Championship where all Superstar members will have the ability to cover the tournament game(s) of their choice and have their work read by users around the world.
Superstar members will be given the ability to cover March Madness by using the CBS SportsLine Glog. Glog which is short for a "game log," is a unique form of sports coverage created by CBS SportsLine in 2005. It's live text color commentary of the contest at hand -- not just what happened but why and how it affects the rest of the game. The aim of CBS SportsLine Glogs is to bring the bleacher seat experience to the web. CBS SportsLine Glogs give an honest look at what's going on in the game -- by a fan for fans.
"You'd be hard-pressed to find more popular or energetic conversations than those around sports and Fantasy sports," said Bill Binenstock, Vice President of Consumer Products for CBS SportsLine. "With the CBS SportsLine Reputation System, the community itself decides what is the topic of the day, who has the facts straight and which community member's opinion matters. It's the democratization of publishing."
