FCC Order Will Speed Benefits of Competition to Cable TV Consumers
FCC Order Will Speed Benefits of Competition to Cable TV Consumers
Statement by American Consumer Institute
RESTON, Va., March 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the FCC released an order that will become an important step in speeding the benefits of competition to consumers. By streamlining the local franchising process, the FCC's order will reduce regulatory entry barriers, which will encourage competitors to enter and compete for cable TV and video consumers. As confirmed by numerous studies, the increase in competition will significantly lower consumer cable TV prices, as well as improve service quality. Along with these consumer benefits, the economy will see increased investment and the creation of new jobs, as incumbents and competitors build next generation IP networks. We applaud the FCC for encouraging competition that will give consumers a choice.
