New Schwab Survey: Gen-X'ers Facing Significant Roadblocks on the Road to Saving for Retirement
A new survey from Charles Schwab and Company shows younger investors are aware they should be saving for retirement, but face significant challenges like competing spending priorities and a lack of information to make simple investment choices. Schwab surveyed over five hundred Americans between the ages of twenty-five and forty -- a range that generally overlaps with the so-called Generation X -- regarding finances and retirement. The survey found paying daily living expenses is a higher priority than saving for retirement for this age group, with paying off debt also a significant factor. While more than eight in ten of those born into Generation X are taking some sort of action to save for retirement, only forty percent of those who are saving have an I-R-A.

Spike TV Plays Amateur Detective to Solve Real-Life Crimes in 'Murder'
Spike TV has ordered ten one-hour episodes of the alternative/reality series "Murder" from reality innovator Bunim-Murray Productions. The show is set to premiere in the Summer of 2007. Knowledge Workers Putting in Longer Workweeks, Says Poll by Lexmark and Ipsos
American knowledge workers are putting in more hours on the job than they were five years ago. That's according to a national telephone survey of knowledge workers -- defined as individuals who use a computer at work for word processing, database, spreadsheet, Internet or e-mail applications. The study was commissioned by Lexmark International, and conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs. The survey revealed that American knowledge workers currently work an average of five hours a week in addition to the hours they are committed to, which, for sixty-one percent is a forty hour week. One in ten works an extra twenty hours or more per week.
