Fox Atomic Announces Presence at New York Comic Con 2007

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Fox Atomic announced today a series of initiatives centered around the upcoming 2nd annual New York Comic Con on February 23rd - 25th. The activities planned include the first detailed look into the Fox Atomic graphic novels for both "The Hills Have Eyes" and "28 Days Later" franchises; an opportunity to enter "The Hills Have Eyes 2" "15 Gigs of Fear" contest; a chance to be part of the Machinima contest in the first ever fully-functional film studio in Second Life; a sneak peak at never before seen scenes from the upcoming film "The Hills Have Eyes 2" (3/23); and a panel featuring the Master of Horror himself, Wes Craven. In addition, MySpace.com has named Fox Atomic's booth their official "Meeting Place" for the duration of the convention.

From the screen to the page, Atomic will host a panel on Saturday, February 24th at 6 p.m. offering sneak elements from their upcoming graphic novels "28 Days Later: The Aftermath" (4/3/07) and "The Hills Have Eyes: The Beginning" (7/07) and horror anthology "The Nightmare Factory" (8/07). On hand to discuss these novels will be: Jimmy Palmotti (co-writer, "The Hills Have Eyes: The Beginning"); Steve Niles (writer, "28 Days Later: The Aftermath"); Heidi Macdonald (Fox Atomic Comics' newly signed Editor); and R. Eric Lieb (Fox Atomic Comics' Editor-in-Chief). Formed in 2006, Fox Atomic Comics is the graphic novel publishing arm of the studio, with all content creation handled in-house. Partnering with publisher HarperCollins, Fox Atomic Comics produces and distributes high-end, branded graphic novels tied to Fox Atomic theatrical releases as well as original content.

Additionally, Atomic is showcasing its "The Hills Have Eyes 2" "15 Gigs of Fear" music video mash-up contest at NY Comic Con, in which visitors to foxatomic.com create a video for alternative band Chevelle's latest single, "Well Enough Alone." Entrants may register directly at NY Comic Con on kiosks at the Atomic booth and will have exclusive access to footage from "The Hills Have Eyes" and "The Hills Have Eyes 2." Users create their videos in the Blender, a web-editing tool on foxatomic.com, by mashing up clips from the movie as well as their own uploaded video. The winner will be chosen by Wes Craven from the 20 highest rated finalists based on peer voting. The grand prize winner will win a trip to LA to meet with Fox Atomic studio executives to pitch their movie idea as well as a $3500 cash prize.

A virtual representation of the Fox Atomic booth will also be featured in Second Life, allowing users world-wide to sample the Comic Con experience. In Second Life, the entire Fox Atomic Island is at the user's disposal to make a Machinima or to take photos using Atomic-provided avatars based upon upcoming films. The participant can choose to use the custom soundstages, any of the movie-specific 'sets' scattered around the island, or chose to film anywhere within the world of Second Life. Both the Machinima and Photo contests began on 2/5/07 and close on 2/26/07, with submissions allowed at any time during those dates. The top three winners for both contests will be announced 3/2/07. The prizes include round trip tickets for two to Costa Rica, a spring break trip for 2, and $100,000 Linden Dollars.

Furthering its profile at the convention, Atomic's booth will also be the official "MySpace Meeting Place". Additional computers will provide guests the chance to access their profiles, blog, upload photos, and perform all other MySpace-related activities.

On Saturday, February 24th at 2 p.m., Master of Horror Wes Craven, his son and first-time co-writer Jonathan Craven, and cast members Daniella Alonso and Jessica Stroup will partake in "The Hills Have Eyes 2" panel. This discussion will offer an inside look at the production of the film, debut an exclusive never-before-seen montage of scenes from the movie, and sign autographs for the thousands of fans present afterwards at the Fox Atomic booth. Moreover, attendees at the festival will be able to participate in various activities at the Atomic booth including contests, giveaways, and "mutant makeovers" by a special effects makeup artist.
