ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Harrah's Atlantic City will host the press conference for the 70th anniversary of the Robert W. Maxwell Football Club Award on Friday, March 2 at 11:30 a.m. at the Concert Venue, and the 2007 awards will be presented that evening at the National Awards Dinner (Black Tie required).
Professional football awards go to LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers, winner of the 48th Annual Bert Bell Award for Professional Player of the Year; and New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton, winner of the 18th Annual Greasy Neale Award for Professional Coach of the Year. (Voters for the Pro Awards are NFL owners, football personnel, head and assistant coaches as well as members of the Maxwell Football Club, national media, both electronic and print, and local media.)
Ernie Accorsi, retiring GM of the New York Giants, is the winner of the 18th Annual Reds Bagnell Award for Contributions to the Game of Football.
College football winners announced in December on the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show include Notre Dame's Brady Quinn, winner of the 70th Annual Maxwell Award for College Player of the Year; Penn State's Paul Posluszny, winner of the 12th Annual Chuck Bednarik Award for Defensive College Player; and Rutgers' Greg Schiano, overwhelming winner of the 18th Annual George Munger Award for College Coach of the Year. (Voters for all the Maxwell College Awards are NCAA Head College Football Coaches, members of the Maxwell Football Club and sportswriters and sportscasters from across the country.)
The 4th Annual Harrah's Broadcast Award was won by CBS Sports host and two-time Emmy Award winner James Brown. That award will be presented by last year's winner, ESPN's anchor and reporter Suzy Kolber and R. Scott Barber, Sr. Vice President and General Manager of Harrah's Atlantic City.
Additional honorees are Rutgers' running back Ray Rice, winner of the 6th Annual Tri-State Player of the Year; Clint Dolezel of the Dallas Desperados, winner of the 3rd Annual Arena Football Player of the Year; Daniel Persa, from Bethlehem (PA) Liberty High School, winner of the 22nd Annual Jim Henry Award for the Tri-State High School Football Player of the Year; and Gamp Pellegrini, Malvern Prep, winner of the 9th Annual Tri-State Coach of the Year.
The Maxwell Award dinner emcee is Merrill Reese. The 2007 presenters are Dick Vermeil, College Awards; Carl Peterson, Professional Awards; Craig Spence, Arena Football League; Suzy Kolber, Harrah's Broadcast Award; Vince Papale, Local Awards; and Chris Berman, Reds Bagnell Award.
