The Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation Established
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Cesar Millan -- whose hit series "Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan" has become a national phenomenon -- and his wife Ilusion Millan have founded THE CESAR AND ILUSION MILLAN FOUNDATION, a national, non-profit foundation designed to aid and support the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of abused and abandoned dogs throughout the United States.
The Millans are simultaneously establishing a new headquarters for their successful Dog Psychology Center, where they maintain round-the-clock care and rehabilitation of up to fifty or more animals at a time. The Center is moving from its present inner city Los Angeles location to a forty-acre rural ranch near Santa Clarita, California. The Millans will live on the property, which will include dog trails, exercise runs, an obstacle course, a small lake large enough for swimming and recreation, and a host of kennels.
Initial funding for The Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation will be provided by the Millans themselves.
Specifically, the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation will offer financial support and rehabilitation expertise to:
* Assist select non-profit dog rescue shelters and organizations engaged
in the rescuing, rehabilitation, and locating of homes for abused and
abandoned dogs with funding and expertise.
* Support no-kill shelters and other organizations committed to saving
dogs from euthanasia, as well relocating misplaced, and/or
misunderstood animals.
* Create and support regional and national projects targeting education
and awareness of proper dog behavior and care; separate outreach will
be conducted to both adults and children.
* Produce and create national public service announcements to create and
foster awareness of important animal-related issues including spay and
neuter programs.
The Millans jointly state: "We have personally enjoyed good fortune over the years and the national platform our 'Dog Whisperer' series has provided us makes the timing perfect to reach out and help others in the field. The Foundation, which has long been a dream of ours, is intended to benefit needy dog shelters and rescue centers throughout the United States. Our many years of experience has taught us that most animals can make excellent companions, and that all many of them need is the proper care and a second chance."
Millan, born in rural Mexico, first came to the United States intent on becoming the world's best dog trainer. Since then, Millan has successfully spread his message by way of his hit television series on The National Geographic Channel, #1 New York Times best-selling book "Cesar's Way," and instructional DVDs.
