Dennis K. Gillespie Named Senior Vice President of Distribution for GSN, the Network for Games
New York-Based Gillespie to Serve in Network's Top Affiliate Sales Post
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Affiliate Sales veteran Dennis K. Gillespie has been named Senior Vice President of Distribution for GSN, the network the games, after serving as Senior Vice President of Affiliate Sales for Tower Distribution/Tribune Broadcasting. The announcement was made today by Rich Cronin, President and Chief Executive Officer of GSN, to whom he will report.
Based in GSN's New York office, Mr. Gillespie will have oversight responsibilities for all areas and offices of the network's distribution efforts. Not only is he charged with responsibilities involving subscriber acquisitions and retention, but will assist in the developmental plan of complementary products such as video-on-demand, international distribution and broadband initiatives for the Sony Pictures Entertainment and Liberty Media Corporation owned cable network. GSN is carried by all major cable operators, satellite providers and telcos in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
In making the announcement, Cronin said: "We are pleased that Dennis is joining GSN at this time when we are expanding our businesses to the web and broadband. It was important for us to find a candidate who was experienced in digital and multi-platform opportunities and at the same time had exceptional relationships with the cable, satellite and telco companies. We passed the 60 million subscriber mark in the U.S. last year and look forward to Dennis leading us to 70 million and beyond. He and I worked together at Viacom and I'm thrilled that we are continuing that relationship at GSN."
Since 2002, Mr. Gillespie served as Senior Vice President of Affiliate Sales at Tower Distribution in New York. In this role, he oversaw the national sales of Superstation WGN (SWGN) across all multi-channel video providers in the U.S. and Canada. During this five-year period, Superstation WGN grew its distribution from approximately 48 million homes to over 70 million homes. In addition, he was responsible for the negotiation of analog and DTV retransmission consent agreements for Tribune Broadcasting's 24 television stations including the carriage of digital multicast services.
Prior to Tribune, Mr. Gillespie spent 12 years at MTV Networks in Affiliate Sales and Marketing. During his tenure with MTVN, he held a number of posts, including Vice President, Affiliate Sales and Marketing, where he directed the sales and marketing efforts for 16 cable networks including MTV, Nickelodeon, VH1, TV Land, Comedy Central and MTVN's Digital Suite in the Northeast region and among several national accounts.
Prior to MTV Networks, Mr. Gillespie held a variety of key sales management positions at USA Network, Tribune Broadcasting and Westinghouse Broadcasting and Cable.
Mr. Gillespie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
