Vongo Inks Digital Download Agreement With Starz Media

Comprehensive Deal Will Add More Than 250 New Titles for Vongo VOD Rental and Rights for Electronic Sell-Through

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. and BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Entertainment and Starz Media announced a comprehensive, multi-year content licensing and distribution agreement of Starz Media movies and video titles for Vongo, Starz Entertainment's broadband video download platform. The deal provides Vongo with more than 250 new movies and other video titles for VOD rental and electronic sell-through (EST) purchase, which Vongo anticipates launching in the future.

Thirteen movies from the popular Season One "Masters of Horror" series and The Evil Dead highlight the thriller/horror content with rights licensed for Vongo. Anime fans will enjoy Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, more than 50 episodes of "Astro Boy," Blood, The Last Vampire, and the Street Fighter Alpha feature and "Street Fighter II" series will similarly be available on Vongo.

"We are pleased to license a wide and varied collection of content from our sister company, Starz Media, for the growing Vongo platform," said Bob Greene, executive vice president, advanced services for Starz Entertainment. "While the subscription enjoyment of movies and video content continues to differentiate Vongo from all others in the marketplace, our unique position relative to our digital download peers allows us to bring in rich content -- such as that from Starz Media -- as a wonderful complement. Only on Vongo can you electronically rent by pay-per-view and also subscribe to major theatrical motion pictures and other video content by way of electronic downloads."

"Vongo offers a terrific storefront for Starz Media to showcase its compelling library of movie and video content," said Marc DeBevoise, senior vice president of business development for Starz Media. "Starz Media is looking to monetize its library through additional content licensing deals in the burgeoning digital distribution space. The partnership with our brethren at Vongo and Starz Entertainment will assist our own understanding about emerging consumer interests and behavior. Together, we can build upon the promised synergies between our companies."

Vongo subscribers have unlimited access to more than 1,000 movies and 2,500 total video selections as well as a live, streaming Starz TV channel for a monthly cost of $9.99.
