Verizon Wireless Names Jeff Mango President of Alabama/Georgia Region
Succeeds Jim McGean, Now South Area President
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless, owner of the nation's most reliable wireless network, announced today that Jeff Mango has been named president of Verizon Wireless Alabama/Georgia Region effective January 1, 2007. Mango, returning to Georgia from Colorado where he most recently was president of the company's Mountain Region, will oversee sales, customer service operations and marketing for both Alabama and Georgia. Mango will report to former region president Jim McGean, who was recently named president of the South Area for Verizon Wireless, responsible for operations in the Houston/Gulf Coast area, Central Texas, Florida, Carolinas/Tennessee and Alabama/Georgia regions.

Mango has over 12 years experience in the wireless industry. Prior to his role in the Verizon Wireless Mountain Region, Mango previously served as Executive Director of Retail Sales and Operations for Verizon Wireless in the New York Metro Region where he was responsible for managing the operations and sales of the retail distribution. He joined the wireless industry in 1994 as a Retail Sales Representative and later held a variety of sales management positions, including Regional Director at Bell Atlantic Mobile in Philadelphia and Director of Sales and Operations in Alabama and Georgia. A two-time Verizon Wireless President's Cabinet award honoree, he also served as lead executive for the Verizon Wireless New York City Crisis Management Team.

Mango earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sales and Meeting Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. During his tenure in Colorado, Mango was very involved in the community including his recent election to the board of directors for the Colorado Chamber of Commerce, active leadership and participation with the Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the President's Steering Committee at the Johnson & Wales University Colorado campus. In addition he led several community outreach efforts both in Colorado and during his previous time in Georgia including Habitat for Humanity. He and his family are in the process of relocating to Atlanta, GA.
