More Kids 'On Track' at School -- 1 in 4 Gifted -- According to Census Bureau Report on 'A Child's Day'

Seventy-five percent of children twelve to seventeen years old enrolled in school were academically "on track" - at or above the grade level for peers their age - in 2003, up six percentage points since 1994, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's latest report on how kids are spending their days.

A Child's Day: 2003 is the third examination of children's well-being and their daily activities based on the Census Bureau's Survey of Income and Program Participation. Nearly one in four children in the twelve to seventeen year-old age group were in a special class for gifted students or did advanced work in an academic subject.

Workers on the Move: Nearly One-Quarter in U.S. Voluntarily Changed Jobs Last Year, According to Latest Spherion Survey

According to the latest Spherion Workplace Snapshot survey conducted by Harris Interactive, twenty-one percent of U.S. workers made a voluntary job change in the past year, up slightly from twenty percent who did so in 2005. By comparison, according to Spherion data from December 2005, thirty-seven percent of workers said they intended to look for a new job in 2006. The latest survey also uncovered the top two reasons why workers voluntarily changed jobs in the past year, with thirty percent of workers citing growth and earnings potential and twenty-three percent citing time and flexibility as the reason.

'Clothing' in on the Promotion: Attire Affects Potential for Advancement, Say Most Executives Polled
