Screenmancer(TM) 10th Anniversary Y2K7 Set for IFFF at Raleigh Studios, Hollywood

Screenmancer(TM) 10th Anniversary Y2K7 Set for IFFF at Raleigh Studios, Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Screenmancer.tv today announced the venue for its 10th Anniversary Y2K7 Party. The event will take place during the closing ceremonies of the International Family Film Festival (IFFF), on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, CA.

Dr. Suzanne Shoemaker, who sets the creative agenda for the IFFF each year, said, "Screenmancer was created by two students out of UCLA Film School who knew their niche."

An interview by Screenmancer Co-Founder and site feature ScreenTalk creator Robinson Rea is cited in the FAQ of the official website of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS(R)), home of the Academy Awards(R).

Screenmancer CEO Quendrith Kiem Johnson, a screenwriter and original co-founder, said, "This year's (IFFF) reflects the best in filmed entertainment right now in terms of respecting the tradition of cinema, around the block and around the world."

IFFF's Shoemaker noted that "ten years ago, this team (Johnson/Rea) actually conceptualized a free service to network entertainment pros long before sites like 'MySpace' ever existed."

Unlike MySpace, a generic social networking site, Screenmancer was designed as "the first virtual movie studio" for industry insiders, but also for budding writers, actors, directors, and filmmakers worldwide seeking access to Hollywood by having a Screenmancer Lot space based in LA to showcase their work.

Quendrith Johnson, a veteran journalist who has been accredited in the MPAA Domestic Press Directory, added, "We foresaw the 'MySpace syndrome' and originated security protocols from the start that protect privacy and wisely separate minors from adults."

"We had our dot com snatched by squatters; now we are a dot tv. We learned a lot in the past decade, but good stories are still good stories. Hollywood is built on the storytelling business, not just the explosion/CGI/blow-out-eardrums business. Screenmancer is very proud and pleased to be represented at IFFF."

The catered event will be held from 9 pm to midnight, including a no-host bar and live music by ASZTALOS (fronted by THUNDER BAY lead guitarist Lou Asztalos, former headliner The Roxy). Raleigh Studios is located across from Paramount Studios at 5300 Melrose Ave. in Hollywood.

Participants from any location in the Continental US and Canada, who download www.screenmancer.tv on Feb. 3 during the Y2K7 celebration -- via mobile handsets/wireless web-enabled cellphones only -- will receive a space on Screenmancer Picture's new lot. (Terms & conditions apply.)
