"The Blue's Room creators have shone their brilliant creative brains on preschool literacy," said Brown Johnson, EVP, Executive Creative Director, Nickelodeon Preschool. "These beautiful, funny adventures to the farm and fairytale castles are packed with play-along games that support early reading and literacy skills in a whole new way."

Blue's Room, which originally premiered as five, half-hour specials on Nick Jr., unlocks the door to a whole new world for preschoolers, as the beloved animated puppy Blue is transformed into a loveable puppet who can now talk with them. Each episode is an ultimate play date, as preschoolers talk, play, pretend and imagine with Joe, Blue, her baby brother Sprinkles and their playroom friends including Frederica and Roar E. Saurus. Every playful puppet and activity in Blue's Room is specially designed to support the show's literacy goals, now deepened by Blue's ability to talk with preschoolers at home.

In Blue's Room, early literacy skills are promoted through talking, reading, writing, pretending and playing. Blue's Room offers a new way to talk about and define literacy. The series demonstrates that everything a preschooler engages in involves literacy: pretend play, music, rhyming, comprehension, vocabulary, jokes, writing in a journal, drawing pictures, reading stories, and talking to each other.

Nick Jr. will also roll out content from Blue's Room across the following Nickelodeon Preschool platforms:

* Beginning Friday, January 26, after the premiere of each Blue's Room
episode on Nick Jr., kids and their parents can go to Nick Jr. Video,
Nick Jr.'s broadband video service available on Nickjr.com, to catch an
"instant replay" of the full episode.
* Beginning Monday, January 29, Video On Demand windowing of Blue's Room
episodes will commence on Comcast, Charter, Cablevision, Verizon FiOS
and Cox.
* Beginning Tuesday, January 30, clips from the premiere episode of Blue's
Room ("Blue's Farm Playdate") will be available on various wireless
carriers.
* On Tuesday, January 30, Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and Paramount
Home Entertainment will release a DVD entitled, Blue's Room: Knights of
the Snack Table which features an upcoming new episode of Blue's Room
entitled "Knights of the Snack Table," plus two episodes from the
classic Blue's Clues series ("The Boat Float" and "The Scavenger Hunt").

On "Blue's Farm Playdate," Blue and her brother Sprinkles are excited to play "farm" and they journey to visit the greatest farmer of all time -- Old McDonald played by "Joe." As it turns out, Old McDonald has to run a few errands and needs Blue and Sprinkles to take care of his farm animals while he's away. Old McDonald gives Blue and Sprinkles a checklist to help them keep track of the chores they need to do for each animal. With help from Frederica, Roar E. Saurus and the preschoolers at home, Blue and Sprinkles collect a dozen eggs from the chicken coop, feed corn to the pig, feed a carrot to the horse and successfully milk a cow! They manage to finish all of their chores before Old McDonald returns, which is a feat so impressive that the great farmer celebrates by singing his favorite song, "Old McDonald."

Blue's Room was created and executive produced by Traci Paige Johnson and Angela C. Santomero. Wendy Harris also served as executive producer on the series. Blue's Room is a spin-off series of Nick Jr.'s signature show Blue's Clues, which was created by Johnson, Santomero and Todd Kessler.
