URGE Sponsors One-Night-Only DJ Set Featuring Planet E Founder Carl Craig At Renowned Studio B in Brooklyn

NEW YORK, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- MTV Networks' digital music service URGE continues its celebration of electronic/dance music with exclusives this month from two of the biggest and most influential electronic/dance labels in the world - Planet E, which forged new ground in the 90s with its innovative Detroit techno sound and whose artists are redefining the genre today, and Ed Banger, the progressive French label owned by Pedro Winter, who helped manage the world-renowned group Daft Punk. The Planet E and Ed Banger offerings include brand-new songs bowing on URGE first, as well as albums and tracks never-before-available on a digital platform. URGE (available for free download at http://www.urge.com/) also is sponsoring a one-night-only DJ set with distinguished dance music experimentalist and Planet E founder Carl Craig on Friday, Jan. 19th at Studio B in Brooklyn, NY.

"Electronic music is growing in mass appeal, and its influence can be felt as it moves beyond dance and surfaces more frequently in such genres as hip- hop and pop," said Michael Bloom, vice president of digital music for MTV Networks and general manager of URGE. "We're committed to showcasing all genres of music, and we're thrilled that Planet E and Ed Banger are launching new material and bringing back old favorites for the first time on URGE."

Founded in 1991, Planet E has been home to Craig's work and other artists who have been considered some of the leading lights in electronic music the last two decades. Planet E exclusives for January include brand-new cuts being released this month as well as full-length albums and singles from years past. These include:

* The new singles "Shez Satan" by Tres Demented, Ican's "A Quien," Martin
Buttrich's "Full Clip," Vince Watson's "Renaissance," and Lazy Fat
People's "Silencio."

* Carl Craig's past acclaimed albums "Album Formerly Known As. . ." and
"More Songs About Food and Revolutionary Art," as well as Paperclip
People's "The Secret Tapes of Dr. Eich" and Psyche/BFC's "Elements."
(Paperclip People and Psych/BFC are aliases for Craig.)

* Six sought-after and popular hits from the 90s and now, including "Feel
the Fire/Stars" by Naomi Daniel and Carl Craig; Craig's "Just Another
Day;" Innerzone Orchestra's "Bug in the Bassbin;" "4 My Peepz" by
Paperclip People; "Demented" by Tres Demented, and Designer Music's
"Goodgirls" (Craig counts Innerzone Orchestra, Tres Demented and
Designer Music among his many aliases).

Based in Paris, Ed Banger specializes in a 21st century mix of disco, techno, hip-pop, house and pop. The following titles from Ed Banger, which will be distributed in the U.S. through Vice Records, will be available exclusively on URGE for the week beginning Jan. 16.
