Carolyn Clifford To Co-Anchor WXYZ-TV 5pm and 7pm Action News
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 today announced that Carolyn Clifford will join Robbie Timmons as co-anchor of 5pm Action News. It was also announced that Clifford will co-anchor 7pm Action News. WXYZ-TV News Director, Andrea Parquet-Taylor made the announcement which becomes effective on Monday, January 29. Clifford has been the co- anchor of Action News This Morning and Action News at Noon and also serves as the station's chief health reporter. In addition to her new co-anchor responsibilities on 5pm and 7pm Action News, Clifford will continue as co- anchor on Action News at Noon.

Carolyn Clifford joined WXYZ-TV Action News in June 1998 as weekend anchor and health reporter. Clifford became co-anchor of Action News This Morning in June 2002. Over the four-year period that Clifford has co-anchored Action News This Morning, the program has experienced substantial ratings growth. Action News at Noon, which Clifford co-anchors with Robbie Timmons, is the dominant number one newscast in its time period.
A Detroit native, Carolyn Clifford grew up on the northwest side of Detroit and is a graduate of Benedictine High school. Clifford graduated from Michigan State University in East Lansing with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Prior to joining WXYZ-TV, Clifford was an anchor/reporter at television stations in Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Orlando and Lansing.
Clifford has received numerous honors for professional excellence including three local Emmys for 'Best Anchor'. Additionally, Clifford has been honored by the Associated Press and Michigan Association of Broadcasters for excellence in health reporting.
An Oakland County resident, Clifford and her husband, Frank Taylor, a Detroit area restaurateur, have three children.
