Thousands to Take Part in The Great American Cookie Swap Sponsored by DuPont(TM) Teflon(R) to Treat the Nation's Troops Overseas

December 9 Features Food Network Chefs Jamie & Bobby Deen and Thousands of Cookie Swap Parties Across the Entire United States; List of State Participation Shows PA, TX, NY and CA Leading the Way

WILMINGTON, Del., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- This Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, Americans will host thousands of cookie swap parties as part of The Great American Cookie Swap sponsored by DuPont(TM) Teflon(R). For each person registered for the national cookie exchange, DuPont is making a donation to Treat The Troops(TM), an organization that bakes and ships homemade cookies to the men and women of the Armed Forces abroad. The DuPont donation will help Treat The Troops(TM), a member organization of America Supports You, prepare and send homemade cookies for an entire year. America Supports You (http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/) is an ongoing, nationwide program of the Department of Defense that helps showcase Americans' support for the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families.

"With the generous contribution from DuPont, our member organization, Treat The Troops(TM), overcomes its greatest program challenge -- postage," said Allison Barber, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and architect of America Supports You. "DuPont's commitment makes it possible for Treat The Troops(TM) to focus exclusively on what it does best to boost the morale of our soldiers -- bake, package and ship great tasting cookies to our men and women in uniform serving overseas."

"Nothing makes you feel at home more than a batch of fresh-baked cookies, and we're glad to be helping bring that feeling to our troops around the world," said Lisa Bolten, DuPont(TM) Teflon(R) global business manager. "Anyone can help us make this happen just by spending a fun day with their friends and family and taking part in the Great American Cookie Swap."

Jamie and Bobby Deen, hosts of Food Network's Road Tasted and sons of Paula Deen, are the Great American Cookie Swap's ambassadors, providing baking advice and tips for hosting a great cookie swap party. "Sending cookies to the troops overseas is, perhaps, the ultimate road-tasting occasion," said Jamie Deen. "We're proud to be part of this worthy movement."

Cookie Swap party hosts are represented in each of the 50 states. The top ten Great American Cookie Swap states based on the amount of registrants are:

1. Pennsylvania: 1,138 6. Ohio: 770
2. Texas: 1,053 7. Indiana: 721
3. New York: 1,028 8. Illinois: 601

The purpose of Treat The Troops(TM) is to let deployed American military persons, on the front, living in tents or temporary quarters, know that people at home are remembering them. Home-baked cookies and other "comfort items," along with a note of thanks are sent via the U.S. Postal Service. The boxes are addressed to a specific soldier at an APO (Army & Air Force) or FPO (Navy & Marine) number. Treat The Troops(TM) does not take a position on whether or not our troops should be in the country to which they are deployed. It is important, however, that we, the American people, let these troops know that we care and are appreciative of the hardships and risks they must endure every day for our country. Letters received from soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen prove that these packages from home are greatly appreciated and that they do boost morale.
