Tony(R) Award-Winner Savion Glover, Emmy(R) Award-Winner Judith Jamison and Three Prominent Business Executives to Help Lead NJPAC

NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Tony(R) Award-winner Savion Glover and Emmy(R) Award-winner Judith Jamison, along with three prominent business leaders, were elected recently to serve on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). Joining the artists are: Robert Bertolini, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Schering-Plough Corporation, Harold R. (Hal) Denton, President and CEO of General Land Abstract Co., Inc. and Thomas B. Hallman, Vice Chairman, Specialty Finance, CIT.

"With the addition of these five outstanding individuals, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center moves toward its tenth birthday with reinvigorated leadership," said Lawrence P. Goldman, NJPAC's President and CEO. "The Arts Center has long been blessed with uncommonly dedicated volunteer leaders. The new Board members join a group of devoted, passionate and effective advocates who have made NJPAC a centerpiece of their civic lives. We are delighted to add five accomplished professionals to their ranks."

"I am so grateful for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center," said actor/dancer/choreographer Savion Glover. "It has provided culture, education, economic opportunity and hope to my beloved hometown of Newark, New Jersey. I look forward to working on many projects with the Arts Center's education and programming departments and I am deeply honored to have been asked to join NJPAC's prestigious Board of Directors."

"When I first saw a photograph of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center as it was going to be, I knew that I wanted to work there," said Judith Jamison, Artistic Director, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. "The New Jersey Performing Arts Center has more than accomplished its early promise. It is a theater that comes with an attitude, a personality that resonates as if it's been here forever. The diversity of its audience and variety of events are assets that make the place so accessible. I am honored to have been asked to join its Board of Directors and look forward to our two organizations working even more closely in the coming years."

New Jersey Performing Arts Center is the sixth largest performing arts center in the United States. Home of the Grammy(R) Award-winning New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, NJPAC has been widely cited as a catalyst in the revitalization of New Jersey's largest city, attracting over 4.5 million visitors (including more than 850,000 children) in its first nine years of operation.
