Six Flags to Launch New Original Action-Adventure Stunt Show From the Creator of the Emmy-Winning Drama '24'

Six Flags to Launch New Original Action-Adventure Stunt Show From the Creator of the Emmy-Winning Drama '24'

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Six Flags (NYSE:SIX) today announced "Operation SpyGirl," a new original live action adventure show created and produced exclusively for Six Flags by Joel Surnow, the creator of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning dramatic series "24." Surnow will produce the show in association with Asylum Entertainment. "Operation SpyGirl" will launch next spring at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL.

"Operation SpyGirl," its storyline and characters, were created and developed exclusively for Six Flags. Six Flags has a history of successful stunt shows -- most recently featuring Batman, launched at Six Flags Magic Mountain after the release of "Batman Begins" -- but this is the first time that Six Flags has created original proprietary content for distribution across multiple platforms. In addition to the show, which will take place on a custom-built tropical set featuring an animatronic volcano, Six Flags will offer "Operation SpyGirl" merchandise in stores throughout its family of parks as well as food and beverage extensions, and characters from the show will be seen throughout the park. The company will also explore the launch of "Operation SpyGirl" shows at other parks over the next several years, as well as other ancillary media extensions and retail opportunities.

Beginning in May 2007, visitors to Six Flags Great America will witness "Operation SpyGirl's" heroine save the world at the conclusion of a dramatic storyline featuring a series of twists, turns and action sequences professionally choreographed by E.S.I., one of the best-known stunt design and coordination companies in the entertainment industry. SpyGirl will battle against both a ticking clock and the evil archvillain Max Condor in her attempt to save the world.

"'Operation SpyGirl' gives us the flexibility to create original content that will extend beyond the boundaries of the theme park in years to come," said Mark Shapiro, Six Flags President and CEO. "Working with Joel Surnow to bring 'Operation SpyGirl' to Six Flags Great America next summer is a major step forward in the development of the Six Flags entertainment offering. This plays into our strategy when you consider that our families are embracing a revitalized experience at Six Flags that stretches beyond just rides."

"'Operation SpyGirl' is a fun and creative extension of the action-packed thrill shows I have created for television throughout my career, and what better place to bring it to life than at Six Flags, the thrill capital of the world," said Joel Surnow, creator of the "24" television show. "The entire 'Operation SpyGirl' experience will be an exciting wild ride from start to finish that Six Flags Great America guests are going to love."

Six Flags, Inc. is the world's largest regional theme park company. Founded in 1961, Six Flags is celebrating its 45th Anniversary in 2006. Six Flags, Inc. is a publicly-traded corporation headquartered in New York City.
