M/I Homes Selected To Build Dream Home for National Hero
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- M/I Homes, Inc. (NYSE:MHO) has been selected to join with America's favorite handyman, Ty Pennington, and ABC-TV's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to build a new home for the Jason Thomas family of Columbus, Ohio. Pennington and designers Ed Sanders, Tanya McQueen, Paul DiMeo and John Littlefield, along with a team of M/I Homes associates, greeted the family earlier this week and announced that they selected the Thomas family for an extreme home makeover. The new home will be constructed within a week.
Jason Thomas is a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps and is one of two Marines who helped find a pair of New York City Police Department officers buried in the rubble after the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. Thomas, who lived in New Jersey during the attacks, moved to the Columbus area three years ago with his wife, Kirsten, and their four children. His heroism was featured in the recent Oliver Stone movie, "World Trade Center."
"Jason Thomas is a true American hero who selflessly risked his life to save others," said Robert H. Schottenstein, Chief Executive Officer and President of M/I Homes. "While we often refer to home ownership as 'the American dream,' the real American dream is the desire to be free. Jason Thomas and countless others like him have helped preserve and protect that dream. It is a unique and special honor for our Company to participate in this extraordinary project. M/I Homes has always been committed to giving back to our community and helping those in need. Our employees and partners have unselfishly stepped forward to donate the required time and materials with one goal in mind: to build the Thomas family their dream home."
