Watch Where You're Going! - Travelistic Launches With More Video Than any Other Travel Site
New Site Offers Virtual Voyager a Free Boarding Pass to the World - From Vancouver to Vienna, Rio to Reykjavik, Seattle to Shanghai!
Founded by Former Top Executives from MTVi, iFilm and IGN
NEW YORK, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Travelistic, the travel site that lets the virtual traveler explore the world through video, launched today at http://www.travelistic.com/ with more videos that any other travel site, covering literally hundreds of destinations -- with videos from Vancouver to Vienna, Rio to Reykjavik, Seattle to Shanghai! Catering to the passionate travel audience, Travelistic offers a rich combination of user-generated video, broadcast quality TV video and original, online-only programming -- much of which has never been seen before in the U.S. or online.
Founded by CEO Nicholas Butterworth (former President and CEO of MTVi) and VP of Technology and Product Development Tatum Lade (former VP of Technology at iFilm), Travelistic understands how to create compelling online video experiences for passionate communities.
Travelistic takes the virtual voyager to the most interesting destinations from across the globe -- from sampling Scotch along the Whiskey Trail (http://www.travelistic.com/video/show/381) to zip lining through the Costa Rican rainforest (http://www.travelistic.com/video/show/429; http://www.travelistic.com/video/show/505); from an aerial safari across the Serengeti (http://www.travelistic.com/video/show/350) to desert hikes in Palm Springs (http://www.travelistic.com/video/show/551). The Travelistic traveler decides how and when they depart and arrive -- when to watch where they're going.
"Travel is all about personal connections, and Travelistic connects people by providing them the opportunity to tell their life-changing travel stories through video," said Nicholas Butterworth, Founder and CEO. "We offer a free boarding pass to the best of what's been shot, allowing like-minded travelers to share where they've been and watch where they want to go.
"Travelistic is about ubiquity, not exclusivity," continued Butterworth. "We want our viewers to see where video can take them, and so we seek out and welcome video from truly anywhere."
Travelistic has been adding 20 new destinations and more than 100 new videos each week -- including video from more than 120 Boards of Tourism -- and is currently in discussions with many of the top travel and hospitality properties to bring their videos to the site. Travelistic's first original program will be a weekly travel news show, with a host selected from users uploading content. Highlights of current programming include:
Licensed Video
* "Thirsty Traveler" -- A weekly journey into the heart of the world's
greatest wine, beer and spirit producing regions. The Thirsty Traveler
dives headlong into the intimate relationship between local people he
visits and their favorite alcoholic libations. Here, great taste and
good cheer -- and the romance of pure adventure -- count for
everything! And along the way you're guaranteed to experience rich
stories, colorful characters and a culinary epiphany or two.
* "Get Out! Girls" -- A daily show capturing the adventures of Lindsay,
Misty and friends as they tour exotic locations in search of big
thrills. From learning to surf in Cabo San Lucas to attacking the
Atlanta nightlife, no scene is too hot for these ladies. Never one's
to turn away from extreme adventure challenges, the Get Out! Girls
always find the time to let loose and live the good life.
* "Focus On" -- An intimate portrayal of foreign cultures and lifestyles
less-seen. Focus On takes the viewer beneath the skin of standard
travel programming, tapping into the local flavor and regional charm of
worldwide destinations. From strolling along the Malecon in Havana to
the Kartik Purnima Full-Moon Festival in India, Focus On explores
cultures and customs with careful insight.
Anyone can watch travel videos on Travelistic, and all registered viewers can upload, embed and email videos. Once registered, individuals get their own Travelistic profile page from where they will be able to message each other, form groups, invite friends, share videos among other members of the community and keep their favorite videos of places they've been to or want to visit. Google Maps mark where each video was shot, and when a location is clicked Travelistic takes you to a page with all the videos available from that destination.
