Just ask Danielle Johnson of Upstate New York. This new mom delivered her bundle of joy at EXACTLY 8:30 pm ET on Friday, September 1, 2006, kicking off the "Labor" Day weekend premiere of FOXWORTHY'S BIG NIGHT OUT on CMT. Now, CMT is delivering Danielle a bundle - $50,000 for her very own Big Night Out.
In comedy, timing is everything. This new mom is the recipient of the financial windfall that CMT recently offered to the mother of the first baby who debuted in the United States simultaneously with the world premiere of FOXWORTHY'S BIG NIGHT OUT on CMT.
"I can't tell you how much this money will ease a lot of stress and help us make a wonderful life for Ayden," declared Johnson, a subscriber of Albany Time Warner Cable, clearly overwhelmed with emotion. "We recorded the show when I left for the hospital because we're huge Jeff Foxworthy fans and we didn't want to miss the show. Jeff Foxworthy always makes me laugh. Now, he's making me cry."
Johnson continued, "My due date was September 18th. When I went into labor on Wednesday night (8/30), my Dad actually teased me and said, 'Can't you hold off a couple days?' But it's even more amazing that it actually took Ayden two more days to join us!" Apparently father DOES know best.
Lori Metzgar, RN BSN, Nursery Manager, Bellevue Woman's Hospital in Niskayuna, NY, was the Patient Care Coordinator on duty that night and eye witness to the big event. She related, "One of my duties is to call the official time of births. When that baby arrived EXACTLY at 8:30 pm, the whole OR (operating room) was jumping up and down with excitement. The couple was so happy, they were beside themselves. We are thrilled for this young couple - and very pleased that our hospital is the one where this baby was delivered."
"Now Danielle can laugh her way to the bank," joked Andy Holeman, vice president of consumer marketing, CMT. "How appropriate that Danielle named her baby 'Ayden' since he's already 'Ayden' the family budget."
In celebration of Jeff Foxworthy's "new baby," FOXWORTHY'S BIG NIGHT OUT, CMT will continue to award $5,000 each week to the mother of the first baby born in America during the premiere of each additional episode airing Fridays at 8:30 pm ET* on CMT (Friday, September 8 through Friday, November 17, 2006).
To help find the mothers, CMT launched a massive search campaign including alerting nearly 4,000 hospital delivery rooms across America. Bellevue Woman's Hospital will receive a 42" flat screen HDTV so staff can watch FOXWORTHY'S BIG NIGHT OUT on CMT when they are not delivering babies.
According to Deborah Chesky, Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Development, Bellevue Woman's Hospital, "As soon as we received the word from CMT about the offer, we alerted our nursing staff and expectant mothers. We're going to continue reminding our labor and delivery staff and alert our moms every Friday because you never know when lightning may strike twice."
The debut of FOXWORTHY'S BIG NIGHT OUT almost doubled the typical CMT Friday audience as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
With a whole new cast of friends and special guests, FOXWORTHY'S BIG NIGHT OUT is on track as the new signature CMT sketch comedy series. Each week a different country artist joins Foxworthy for the ultimate in country comedy and live musical performances. In the twelve episodes, country stars Kenny Rogers, Trace Adkins, Billy Currington, Sara Evans, Pat Green, Jack Ingram, Montgomery Gentry, Joe Nichols, Blake Shelton, The Warren Brothers, Hank Williams Jr. and The Wreckers all test their comedic chops by appearing in sketches with Jeff and his amazing cast of improvisators. Mixing the traditional TV monologue with sketches, audience participation and some of the best musical performances that the world of country music has to offer. Currington performs his new song, Good Directions, on Friday (9/13).
To be eligible for the $50,000 for a BIG NIGHT OUT on CMT, the mother of the baby born at 8:30 pm ET* on Friday, September 1, 2006 needed to submit an entry form (available at foxworthy.cmt.com) for receipt no later than September 30, 2006. The official rules stated that in the event of more than one birth at 8:30 pm ET* on September 1, 2006, a random drawing would be conducted. Since there were multiple entries of births at the exact time the show premiered, Danielle was the winner of the sweepstakes drawing.
Entries for the 11 additional $5,000 baby bounties need to be received by Friday, December 29, 2006. Official Rules are available at foxworthy.cmt.com.
Concept development and execution of FOXWORTHY'S BIG NIGHT OUT on CMT Baby Bounty Sweepstakes handled by GREAT!, the Atlanta-based promotion agency of record for CMT.
