Nielsen Media Research Reports Television's Popularity Is Still Growing
Nielsen Media Research reported Thursday that average American television viewing continues to increase in spite of growing competition from new media platforms and devices, such as video iPods, cell phones and streaming video. During the 2005-2006 television year, which ended on September 17th, traditional in-home television viewing continued to hold its own with audiences, and even gained among technology-savvy teenagers. The total average time a household watched television during the 2005-2006 television year was eight hours and fourteen minutes per day, a three-minute increase from the 2004-2005 season and a record high. The average amount of television watched by an individual viewer increased three minutes per day to four hours and thirty-five minutes, also a record.

Study Finds Repeat D-U-I Offenders Have High Mental Illness Rates
A new study shows that alcohol may not be the only problem for repeat drunk drivers. More than half of D-U-I offenders also suffer from at least one mental illness in addition to a drug or alcohol-use disorder. The study found almost sixty percent of those with two or more D-U-I convictions reported experiencing major depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder or posttraumatic stress disorder over their lifetime.

Superdome Is 'Football-Ready'
