ECPI Presents JUAN DIEGO FLOREZ, Tenor in Recital

Carnegie Hall Debut - Friday, December 1, 2006

NEW YORK, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- ECPI [www.ecpi.cc] is very pleased to present the Carnegie Hall debut of tenor Juan Diego Florez, in recital on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 8:00 PM. Pianist Vincenzo Scalera will accompany Mr. Florez in a program to be announced.

Since his professional debut at 23, Juan Diego Florez has conquered stages throughout the world, causing a sensation. His schedule takes him regularly to the most distinguished lyric theaters, and his acclaimed Decca recordings have only added to his reputation.

Born in Lima, Peru, Mr. Florez began his musical studies there and subsequently won a scholarship to Philadelphia's Curtis Institute. He made his debut in Matilde di Shabran at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; the performance was a triumph for the young tenor and important debuts quickly followed.

In New York, the Metropolitan Opera calls Juan Diego Florez "the greatest Rossini tenor of our time." He made his house debut in 2002, generating huge ovations from the sophisticated New York audience prior even to his 30th birthday. He's since become a prominent Met artist -- he stars in the company's new production of Rossini's Barber of Seville in November, with a broadcast in March -- and he is beloved of audiences hungry for a level of vocal artistry seldom heard anywhere.

Juan Diego Florez made his New York recital debut at Lincoln Center in 2004. "Everybody had to be there," wrote New York Magazine: http://nymag.com/nymetro/arts/music/classical/reviews/n_9839/index.html. Mr. Florez's debut performance at Carnegie Hall promises to generate even more excitement.

Acclaim for Juan Diego Florez:

Associated Press: "[the audience] heard a new star: tenor Juan Diego
Florez, who delivered a string of scintillating high notes worthy of
Luciano Pavarotti."

New York Times: "This extravagantly gifted tenor from Lima, Peru seems
to have it all: voice, looks, style, personality, musical refinement,
and an appealing stage presence."

Wall Street Journal: "Beyond belief ... both the artistry and the
personal charisma to conquer millions."

Tickets for Juan Diego Florez in recital at Carnegie Hall on December 1 are $25 - $95 and go on sale September 10. Tickets will be available at the Carnegie Hall Box Office, by calling 212-247-7800, or online at www.carnegiehall.org.
