Blockbuster Goes 'Over The Hedge' to Help Kids

Fundraiser Benefits Boys & Girls Clubs of America Day For Kids

DALLAS, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sometimes it's the little things that mean the most to a child. In this spirit, Blockbuster Inc. is launching a fundraiser that aims to turn kids' love of fun, colorful stickers into significant funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Now through October 9, customers can make a donation to Boys & Girls Clubs at BLOCKBUSTER(R) stores and, for each dollar donated, will receive a sticker featuring one of the characters from DreamWorks Animation's popular family movie "Over The Hedge." Each sticker has a place where the donor or a child can write his or her name.

The fundraiser is kicking off in the same week as Boys & Girls Clubs Day for Kids. Blockbuster is a founding sponsor of the event, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16, which is a day set aside to celebrate and honor children by spending meaningful time with them.

"Kids need to know how important they are, and giving a child your time is one of the best ways to do that," said Blockbuster Chairman and CEO John Antioco. "We've created this fundraiser to help support the Day for Kids and Boys & Girls Clubs of America's long tradition of helping young people reach their full potential."

Blockbuster has raised more than $8 million for Boys & Girls Clubs Day for Kids since its inception in 2001.
