New Innovative Method of Purchasing Tickets Creates Customer Conveniences
PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast-Spectacor, the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm, in a partnership with Comcast Cable, today introduced "ComcastTIX," a new, innovative method for consumers to purchase tickets to attend events at the Wachovia Center, the Wachovia Spectrum, as well as neighboring arenas, the Liacouras Center at Temple University and the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ, and the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, NJ.
"We're very excited to offer a new and dynamic ticketing service to customers throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region," announced Comcast- Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "ComcastTIX provides our guests with a personalized service and additional opportunities in their ticket purchase experience. As an added benefit, ComcastTIX will now enable our customers to electronically forward their season tickets to a friend or client."
ComcastTIX provides tickets and many unique and special offers to its customers exclusively via the Internet at ComcastTIX.com, via phone at 1-800-298-4200, and at select Acme Markets. Tickets will also be available at the designated arena's box office through ComcastTIX.
The first event to go on sale via ComcastTIX will be individual Philadelphia Flyers game tickets, which will go on sale on Saturday, September 16 at 10 a.m. via philadelphiaflyers.com; comcastTIX.com; 1-800-298-4200, select Acme Markets and at the Wachovia Complex box office.
Customers wishing to purchase tickets for an event at the Borgata, the Liacouras Center or the Sovereign Bank Arena, can immediately begin purchasing tickets via ComcastTIX.com, via phone at 1-800-298-4200, select Acme Markets or the facility's web site.
ComcastTIX will begin selling tickets for all Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum events on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. Any event already scheduled for the Wachovia Center or Wachovia Spectrum that has previously been on sale via the previous ticketing company, will remain available through that ticketing company through Monday, October 2. Only Disney on Ice, performing at the Wachovia Center from Wednesday, October 18 through Sunday, October 22, will remain available via the previous ticketing company, and will not switch over to ComcastTIX after Tuesday, October 3.
ComcastTIX replaces any previous ticketing company for events at the Wachovia Center and Wachovia Spectrum. ComcastTIX, the name for the new ticketing company, was created through a branding agreement between Comcast Cable and New Era Tickets, a subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor which last year sold more than six million tickets nationally.
Comcast-Spectacor invested in Paciolan Technology, the leading provider of in-house ticketing solutions, in November of 2004, and created New Era Tickets, a full-service ticketing company for public assembly facilities and events throughout the United States and Canada. Companies that sell tickets via New Era Tickets can resell the naming rights of the company, which Comcast-Spectacor has done in Philadelphia.
With Paciolan's technology empowering this new venture, New Era Tickets (under its new name in Philadelphia) will provide customized ticketing, database marketing and access management functionality to clients, enabling them to sell and manage their own tickets thereby eliminating the need for third-party distributors. New Era Tickets creates similar opportunities for other sports teams, entertainment venues and multi-purpose arenas, stadiums and convention centers.
"One of the biggest advantages our ticket company (New Era Tickets) offers to arena operators and owners, or sports teams, is the opportunity to brand the ticketing company, which is a natural fit for Comcast," said New Era Tickets President Fred Maglione.
In addition to the naming rights for ComcastTIX, Comcast will have the opportunity to offer its Triple Play customers exclusive VIP access to order their tickets in advance of a public sale for select events.
"ComcastTIX provides us with an opportunity to reinforce the entertainment value of our brand and enables us to deliver unique offers, special discounts and VIP programs to Comcast customers," said Dave Watson, Executive Vice President, Operations for Comcast Cable.
