The 1st African American-owned TV/Film Studio and Distribution Center Launches in Chicago

Sapphire Entertainment, Inc. launches with 11 films and 5 television shows, many to be shot on location in Illinois

CHICAGO, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Sapphire Entertainment makes history today with the launch of the first African American-owned Television and Film Studio, and Distribution Center that will be producing, marketing and distributing action, comedy, drama, thriller and suspense movies. "Although we are an African American-owned studio, our products will not target the African American audience only. We're creating films and Television shows for all movie lovers to enjoy," says Andrea Allen, CEO and founder.

Sapphire Entertainment has divisions devoted to TV, Film and Home Entertainment as well as an acquisitions department that is set up uniquely to benefit the studio and the film-maker be it producer, director or screenwriter, allowing them to maintain creative control through the film's final cut. "Sapphire is being established by a film-maker, just like the original studio pioneers of old. We create our own original ideas, the majority of them coming from dreams that I have. So, as a film-maker, I realize how important a screenplay is to the creator of that idea, which is not something that I would want to just take away from them completely," says Ms. Allen.

Although Sapphire has received much of its funding from a private investor; the company is still in the process of raising additional capital. Within the next 3 years Sapphire intends to employ 300 workers in their distribution and sales centers in Chicago and Los Angeles, and corporate offices, and studios in the Gold Coast area of Chicago and New York.

Chicago and its surrounding suburban communities are ripe with wonderful neighborhoods and settings that will work well for just about any film, and television backdrop. As a filmmaker, I am extremely excited about this," says Ms. Allen. Sapphire Entertainment has scheduled 7 film productions to be shot on location in the Chicago area with other productions scheduled for New York, North Carolina, Arizona and Florida.
