Universal Studios Hollywood's 17th Annual Discover A Star Charity Golf Classic Set for September 15

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The 17th annual Discover A Star Charity Golf Classic will take place on Friday, September 15 at the Robinson Ranch in Santa Clarita, it was announced by Larry Kurzweil, President and COO, Universal Studios Hollywood.

In addition to the competitive golf tournament, the event will feature a raffle and silent and live auctions. The Discover A Star Charity Golf Tournament -- which helps fund grants to a broad range of community organizations -- is open only to employees and affiliates of Universal Studios Hollywood, but interested parties may call the "Discover A Star" donation hotline at 818-622-5146 for more information and to make a financial contribution.

Since being founded 12 years ago, Universal Studios Hollywood's Discover A Star Foundation has provided assistance to select non-profit organizations whose initiatives benefit children's health issues and services for the homeless.

Organizations benefiting from Discover A Star Foundation contributions have included Covenant House, The Chase Foundation, LA Family Housing, Ability First, Creative Planet, It's Time for Kids, the Lamp Community, Operation School Bell, St. Joseph Center, Valley Family Center Chrysalis, Providence St. Joseph, Women's Care Cottage, Children's Burn Foundation, The Help Group, Concern Foundation, Ahead with Horses, The Jeffrey Foundation, Aviva Children's & Family Services, The Burbank Center for the Retarded, Alexandria House, Beyond Shelter, Child & Family Guidance Center, Haven House, Jewish Family Services, Los Angeles House of Ruth, My Friends Place, and Upward Bound House.

This year's silent auction will feature a selection of items, including "Will & Grace" and "Desperate Housewives" DVDs signed by cast, a selection of autographed baseballs, bats and baseball hats signed by L.A. Dodger greats, a Pele-signed soccer ball, VIP seats to "The Tonight Show," autographed items from Jay Leno, all-expense paid trips to New York City, Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, Sonoma, Las Vegas, Orlando, Maui, Cancun, London, Hong Kong, Korea and Vancouver, to name a few.
