Model Mom Launches C.H.A.S.E. for Life; Modernizing Infant/Child CPR and Heimlich Maneuver Education for All Parents and Caregivers

LITTLE SILVER, N.J., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Farley Boyle, mother of three girls and successful model currently starring in Discovery Health Network's "Runway Moms," is on a mission to save children's lives.

Inspired by her daughter Chase's near-drowning and rescue by CPR, she founded C.H.A.S.E. for Life (http://www.chaseforlife.org/ ), a non-profit organization that stands for CPR, Heimlich, Awareness, Safety, Education, to prevent needless deaths through CPR/Heimlich education programs and community outreach initiatives nationwide.

"The smartest decision I made while pregnant with my first child was enrolling my husband and me in an optional infant/child CPR course," states Boyle. "After living through this terrifying ordeal and what would have become the end to our perfect lives, we realized we were given a second chance and wanted to give back to the community immediately."

The day after Boyle came home from the hospital with her third baby girl, she almost lost her two-year-old daughter Chase, as she slipped off the family's boat and nearly drowned. Fortunately, her husband was able to revive their daughter by administering CPR until medical assistance arrived.

Boyle created C.H.A.S.E. for Life hoping that her experience would empower others to become educated in CPR/Heimlich.

"What mother wouldn't want to be armed with this knowledge when it could mean the difference between the life and death of a child," states Boyle.

Since its inception as a gathering of family and friends for CPR/Heimlich instruction with local EMT volunteers at Boyle's home, C.H.A.S.E. for Life is now a leader in CPR/Heimlich education with school and group workshops, promotion of mandatory education in hospitals for first-time mothers, innovative child safety information, instructional resources and media distributed nationwide.

"I'm taking the dated images of CPR instruction, updating it with animation, making it user friendly and giving it the facelift it deserves," says Boyle. "I know we can get all parents to realize how important it is to know how to do CPR. If a person retains only 20 percent of what they learned in a CPR class, they have an 80 percent chance of saving their child's life."

C.H.A.S.E. for Life has recently received the KIDS DAY AMERICA/ INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S EMPOWERMENT AWARD for its commitment to the safety and overall welfare of children and has received financial support from Aetna.

"This campaign aligns perfectly with our commitment to get critical information on prevention and wellness to Aetna members, and now with our sponsorship of C.H.A.S.E. for Life, we can help expand the message to parents everywhere," said James Reid, Northeast Regional Manager at Aetna.
