- Compelling Documentary to Go Live from Ben Franklin High School in New Orleans -
WASHINGTON, Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- On Monday, August 28th, one year after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, and turned the lives of the city's Benjamin Franklin High School (BFHS) Class of 2006 upside down, documentary producers bluecadet interactive will launch Yearbook 2006, an interpretive, Web-based documentary that blends film, photography, audio and interactive elements to chronicle the post-Katrina experiences of more than 30 BFHS students.
Yearbook 2006 (http://www.y06.org/) will go live at a ceremony at the school on Monday, August 28, at 10:17 a.m. (Central Daylight Time), timed to match the moment Katrina stopped the school's clocks. BFHS administrators, students featured in Yearbook 2006, Louisiana State Senator Ann Duplessis and the documentary's creators will attend.
Reporters are welcome; those who cannot attend may request the following resources:
* Photos and B-roll video footage
* Screen captures of the Yearbook 2006 website
* Interviews with Students and School Officials
* Interviews with Yearbook 2006 creators
Conceived, designed and developed by bluecadet interactive, Yearbook 2006 is a not-for-profit Web-based project that showcases the power of the Web as a vital narrative medium for affecting change. According to bluecadet interactive Founder Josh Goldblum, the project was born of the desire to "do something" in response to the horrific images of death, despair and destruction coming out of New Orleans in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane. bluecadet interactive teamed with two noted photographers to create Yearbook 2006: Joshua Cogan, documentary photographer and cultural anthropologist; and nationally known photojournalist David Y. Lee.
