NEW YORK, Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines will feature CBS's new quarterly entertainment magazine, Watch!, on flights throughout September 2006. The magazine will complement the network's "CBS Eye on American" in- flight entertainment, and will be available to more than 4.4 million American Airlines passengers flying in September.
"CBS is the nation's number one television network, with programming that reaches large audiences in entertainment, news and sports -- and Watch! Magazine has proven to be a great way for us to reach those existing viewers and new ones, too," said Gil Schwartz, Executive Vice President, Corporate Communications, CBS Corporation, who also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the publication. "Having Watch! aboard American Airlines this September is a great opportunity to reach readers in an unexpected setting, and we're thrilled to be part of the program."
"'CBS Eye on American' is one of the most unique marketing tools available to a television network, and including Watch! in the program for September was a natural decision," said George Schweitzer, President, CBS Marketing Group. "Through our relationship with American Airlines, we provide more than four million passengers a month a sampling of some of the best programming on television, and having a quality magazine to complement this feature fits into our fall marketing strategy beautifully. Watch! is a compelling, enjoyable publication that takes readers behind the scenes of all our shows and stars, and we're very proud to package it with 'CBS Eye on American' this September."
"American Airlines' relationship with CBS to provide quality inflight entertainment options via CBS Eye on American and Watch! Magazine is another way American is focusing on enhancing the customer experience," said Mary McKee, American's Managing Director of Inflight Products. "We are especially excited about the September issue because it features Phil Keoghan enjoying our first class Flagship Suite on his recent flight from Chicago to Shanghai, American's newest international destination."
The September 2006 issue of Watch! includes a cover story on CBS News' new anchor, Katie Couric, who makes her debut as anchor and managing editor of THE CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC on September 5. Couric talks to Watch! about what she hopes to do with the broadcast as well as her thoughts on journalism, politics and current events. Also in the issue are features on "The Amazing Race" host Phil Keoghan in Shanghai; "NCIS" star Michael Weatherly in Boston; secrets from the red carpet, and more.
Published each quarter by the CBS Communications Group, Watch! debuted in February 2006 and has since published three editions. The magazine has a circulation of 400,000 and is available through CBS's 219 stations and affiliates, as well as CBS show tapings, gift shops and online orders.
