Chicago Magazine Names the 'Best of Chicago'

The Magazine Tracks the Treasures and Treats of the City and Suburbs in its Annual List of Everything Outstanding in the Windy City

CHICAGO, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- In its annual listing of the "Best of Chicago," Chicago magazine, the largest city monthly in the country, once again reviews all that makes the Windy City great, including a tasty veggie burger that's popular among carnivores, sweet-smelling garden mulch with chocolaty origins and a 300-pound Sinatra impersonator you have to hear to believe. The August issue, featuring the "Best of Chicago" on its cover, hits newsstands on Thursday.

"Each summer we head out to find examples of the best Chicago has to offer, and we never come back short," said Chicago magazine editor Richard Babcock. "The city is a place where folks are constantly creating and reinventing, so when our team sits down to write this feature they consider an extensive list teeming with Chicago's best people, places and things."

From the best bakery, boutique and Belgian Bistro to the best doughnuts, designer CDs and discounted flowers, Chicago's August issue has it covered. Plus, Chicago magazine critics offer a sampling of the best of nearby neighborhoods, including Evanston, Albany Park and Hyde Park.

Some of this year's winners include:

-- Best Sushi Deal: Tank Sushi, 4515 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago
-- Best Cheap CDs: Dusty Groove America, 1120 N. Ashland Ave., Chicago
-- Best Bacchanal: Chicago Scene Boat Party
-- Best New Wedding Reception Venue: Art Institute of Chicago, 111 S.
Michigan Ave., Chicago
-- Best New Pizza: Spacca Napoli, 1769 W. Sunnyside Ave., Chicago

Also featured in August's issue:

-- Heartbreak Hotel: Behind the façade of Chicago Hilton and Towers lurks
a Depression-era tale of lost fortunes and legal wrangling. But from
the debacle emerged a young man who today, at 86, sits on the U.S.
Supreme Court. Charles Lane, who covers the U.S. Supreme Court for
the Washington Post, reports.
-- Friendly Persuasion: As one of the city's most successful agents of
high-end house and condo sales in the city's elite Near North Side,
Janet Owen knows the market and is a master of the delicate art of
closing a deal. Writer Jonathan Black investigates the secrets of her
success.

Chicago Editor Richard Babcock and other members of the magazine staff are available for on-air interviews about stories in the August issue. Contact Michael Dizon at 312-222-3165 to schedule an interview.
