NEW YORK, June 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG) announced today a major new music concert and documentary content acquisition agreement with Northstar Media for Vongo, a new video download application and service for broadband that delivers movies and other video content over the Internet for playback on Windows-based PCs, laptops, and select portable media devices, as well as on a TV. The announcement was made by Bob Greene, executive vice president of advanced services for SEG as part of his opening keynote address for the 5th annual Entertainment Technology Alliance at the C3 Expo.

Under the agreement, SEG has licensed 47 full-length new and classic concerts and music documentaries from an array of popular platinum-selling rock artists that will debut on Vongo on July 1st, including No Doubt: Rock Steady Live (2003), David Bowie Love You 'Til Tuesday (1969), Sheryl Crow: Live from London (1997), Bon Jovi: Live from London (1995), Snow Patrol: Live at Sommerset House (2004), The Hives: Tussles in Brussels (2004) and Collective Soul: In a Live Concert Special (2005), among many others.

Music documentary additions include Drive Well, Sleep Carefully: On The Road With Death Cab For Cutie (2005), Spend An Evening With Saddle Creek Parts 1 & 2 (2005), and I Am Trying to Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco Parts 1 & 2 (2005).

Most of the remaining new concerts will also debut on July 7th, with the balance of the concerts and all of the documentaries expected to debut on Vongo by the end of this summer.

As one of the largest content aggregators in Hollywood, Starz Entertainment Group has access to thousands of theatrical films that it makes available on Vongo including Sin City, The Aviator, Hostage, The Incredibles, Are We There Yet?, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Bewitched, and Flightplan and coming later this year, Rent, Chicken Little, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Vongo subscribers have unlimited access to more than 1,600 movie and video selections as well as a live, streaming Starz TV channel for a monthly cost of $9.99 and is currently offering a 14-day free trial for new subscribers. Additionally, select popular pay-per-view titles are available for $3.99 a movie. In addition to Windows-based PCs, laptops and portable devices, Vongo subscribers can also transfer their Vongo content onto a TV for optimal viewing.
