Slim Devices Celebrates the 2006 FIFA World Cup

Introduces Access to Up-to-the-Minute Updates Through Its Squeezebox Player

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Slim Devices announced that its customers will have access to news from the 2006 FIFA World Cup through their Squeezebox starting today and through the duration of the widely followed global sports event. The news will be delivered to each home in nine languages (English, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese) through RSS feeds hosted on SqueezeNetwork, Slim Devices' content service.

"With a global customer base and website visits originating from 172 countries, it was a no-brainer that we needed to support the World Cup," said Patrick Cosson, VP of Sales & Marketing. "We'll be following the tournament intensely and rooting for our favorite teams."

SqueezeNetwork provides customers out-of-the-box access to Internet radio, music services like Pandora, RSS feeds and nature sounds, even when their computer is off. If they additionally install SlimServer, Slim Devices' powerful open source software, users are able to access through their stereo the music stored on their local computer.

By launching SqueezeNetwork, Slim Devices evolved its award-winning network music player into an "always-on" home media device appropriate for any room. "SqueezeNetwork makes Squeezebox the most flexible and powerful media player in the world," added Patrick Cosson.

In January, Slim Devices introduced support for Unicode fonts making it possible to display non-Latin characters such as the Asian languages offered through the FIFA World Cup news feeds.
