NEW YORK, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Bloomberg, the global provider of data, news and analytics, today announced the launch on Saturday June 17th, of the BLOOMBERG TELEVISION(R) program Political Capital, a weekly 30 minute program on politics, economics and public policy hosted by Al Hunt. The premiere edition of Political Capital will feature an interview with Senator Barack Obama (D-IL). The new program, broadcast from Washington, D.C., will include news analysis and reports from BLOOMBERG NEWS(R) journalists in Washington and around the world.
Political Capital airs on BLOOMBERG TELEVISION and on E! network on Saturday at 6:30 AM Eastern Time, and will be repeated on BLOOMBERG TELEVISION Saturday at 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM Eastern Time, and on Sunday at 1:30 AM, 4:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM Eastern Time.
Political Capital host Al Hunt is Executive Editor for Bloomberg News in Washington. Prior to joining Bloomberg in January 2005, Hunt spent 35 years in the Washington bureau of The Wall Street Journal. There he was a congressional and national political reporter, bureau chief and executive Washington editor. For 11 years, Hunt wrote the weekly Wall Street Journal column, "Politics & People." He also ran the newspaper's political polls for 20 years.
For 17 years, Hunt was a regular panelist on CNN's weekly public affairs program, The Capital Gang; and was a member of CNN's Novak, Hunt & Shields interview show. He has also served as panelist on NBC's Meet the Press and PBS' Washington Week in Review, as well as a political analyst for CBS Morning News.
Hunt is a contributor to a series of books on U.S. national elections by the American Enterprise Institute; "The American Elections of 1980;" "The American Elections of 1982;" and "The American Elections of 1984." In 1987, he co-authored the Brookings Institute's book, "Elections American Style." In Caroline Kennedy's "Profiles in Courage for Our Time," released in 2002, Hunt authored an essay about Sen. Russ Feingold and Sen. John McCain's campaign finance reform effort.
