Boston College Students Win Dodge High Caliber Challenge Road Trip for Charity

Students Travel 4,500 Miles to Raise Money for Doctors Without Borders

- Three Boston College students competed against students from Northwestern University and Texas Christian University to increase awareness of Global Music Project and raise $10,000 for Doctors Without Borders

- Boston College team members were each awarded the grand prize of a 24-month lease on an all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber

MIAMI, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Three Boston College students were named the winners of the Dodge High Caliber Challenge, the five-day charity road trip that covered 4,500 miles, passed through 20 states and 13 cities to raise awareness of Global Music Project and funds for Doctors Without Borders.

Captain Stefanie Sitzer, along with team members Woody Tondorf and Jennifer Cowperthwait represented Boston College as they competed against teams from Northwestern University and Texas Christian University to see who could raise the most money for charity by giving away free music downloads from Global Music Project. Each of the three winning team members will receive a 24-month lease on an all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber.

"This competition provided us with a unique opportunity to test our skills, raise money for a great cause and go on the road-trip of a lifetime," said team captain Stefanie Sitzer. "Our team is honored to have contributed to the total donation of $10,000 for Doctors Without Borders and we'll remember this experience every time we drive our new Dodge Calibers."

The weeklong adventure began in each school's respective city on Monday, June 5, and concluded when the teams united in Miami on Friday, June 9. A designated route took them through various cities and states during their journey to Miami. The Boston College team traveled a route that included stops in Boston, Philadelphia, Raleigh and Jacksonville prior to joining the other two teams in Miami.

Along the way, each team was challenged to see who could creatively use the all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber to raise awareness for Global Music Project, a non-profit organization that allows individuals to download songs for a minimum donation of $1 per song with the proceeds going to select charities. For each song downloaded, Dodge donated $1 on the team's behalf to Doctors Without Borders for a total donation of $10,000.

"The Dodge High Caliber Challenge was designed to showcase the fun road-trip features of the new Dodge Caliber and give students real world experience before entering the job force while raising money for a worthy cause," said Tom Loveless, Director - Dodge Marketing & Global Communications. The Boston College team won the challenge based on points awarded for successfully executing awareness-raising events in each city, involving community members in the charitable efforts, and updating a blog site with photos and daily journal entries that highlighted their experience on the road in the Dodge Caliber. All of the participants from the runner-up teams received a $500 cash prize for participating.

-- Stefanie Sitzer, a 19-year-old sophomore from Newport Beach, Calif.,
majoring in communications and Spanish, is constantly on the run. In
addition to volunteering for the Samaritans of Boston, a suicide
prevention help line, Sitzer plans on traveling to Buenos Aires before
beginning an internship at HBO this summer.
-- Woody Tondorf, 22 from Hingham, Mass., graduated in May with a degree
in political science. After starring in Boston College's Web-based TV
series "The BC," a parody of "The OC," Tondorf is moving to Los
Angeles in August where he'll write and produce for HBO.
-- Jennifer Cowperthwait, a 21-year-old communications major, will bring
dedication and team work to the Boston team after years of playing
competitive Lacrosse. The Berwyn, Penn., native is looking forward to
driving along the East Coast and plans on moving to California after
graduation to pursue a career in event planning.
