From Super Mom to Supermodel: TLC Announces New Summer Series 'COVER SHOT' With Frederique van der Wal to Host

- Internationally Renowned Photographer Richard Dean Leads Creative Team to Show That Everyone Has the Beauty to be a Magazine Cover Model -

SILVER SPRING, Md., May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- TLC announced that production will begin today on a new television series called COVER SHOT, where everyday women will have their dreams realized when they get the chance to be a magazine cover model. TLC has signed international supermodel Frederique van der Wal to host the half-hour, prime-time series. Award-winning photographer Richard Dean has also been signed to the series, which debuts on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 10 PM (ET/PT). COVER SHOT will be paired with hit series WHAT NOT TO WEAR for a Friday of fashion on TLC.

"In COVER SHOT, viewers see intriguing personal stories of growth and the struggles with inner beauty that women contend with everyday," noted David Abraham, executive vice president and general manager of TLC. "Women beyond 30 are beautiful. And with the talented Frederique to guide them through an amazing transformation, COVER SHOT will deliver a fantasy many women only dream of fulfilling."

During each half-hour episode of COVER SHOT, Frederique and Richard Dean take one everyday woman and show her (and the audience) that they belong on the cover of a magazine if given the best resources in the business. Viewers see the inner workings that go into producing a magazine cover shoot, and at the end of each episode, the dramatic reveal. Not only will the fruits of the creative team's labor be realized in the transformation, but COVER SHOT brings the "cover model" to New York City for an even bigger reveal -- her glamorous photo spread on a billboard for millions to see in the Big Apple!

The models from such distinguished fashion magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Elle, W and Glamour are the envy of women from across the globe -- young, beautiful, seductive, skinny, perfect. But in COVER SHOT, TLC dispels common myths about beauty, proving that anyone can look and feel like a cover model, if only given the right ingredients -- hair, makeup, clothing -- and a creative team of experts to support and transform them!

Frederique van der Wal, one of the most recognized faces in the modeling world, has taken the phenomenal global success she enjoys in the worlds of fashion & beauty, and translated them into a diverse career -- in fashion as well as acting and television as well as numerous entrepreneurial ventures. She has graced the covers of all the top beauty and fashion magazines worldwide, including Vogue and Cosmopolitan, and has been involved in prestigious campaigns including Revlon, Guess?, MCI and Victoria's Secret. She has also appeared in numerous film and television projects. Her entrepreneurial ventures include her own line of lingerie, sleepwear and loungewear, a workout video, a signature fragrance, a calendar and her own Website, Frederique.com.

Fashion and advertising photographer Richard Dean is now in his 15th year in the fashion industry. Based in New York, Dean has worked worldwide in both advertising and editorial with clients including Giorgio Armani, Gianni Versace, Yves St. Laurent, Reebok, Nike, Fujifilm, Beck's Beer, Miller Beer, Michelob Beer, Fila, Champion, TV Guide, FHM, Sport, Cosmopolitan and Harper's Bazaar. Dean has also been featured as a guest celebrity judge on UPN's AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL. Dean's photography blends a unique style of digital capture, and often includes digital compositing along with vivid colors, movement, energy, and emotion.
