Musiwave Announces Mass Market Availability of Smart Radio Service

Musiwave Announces Mass Market Availability of Smart Radio Service

Personalized Smart Radio Service to be Available on Java-Enabled Handsets

LAS VEGAS, CTIA, April 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Musiwave, an Openwave company (Openwave Systems Inc. Nasdaq: OPWV) and a leading provider of mobile music entertainment services to operators and media companies worldwide, today announced the availability of its Smart Radio service for Java-enabled handsets. Smart Radio availability as a Java application will greatly extend the availability of this innovative service; initial availability will begin with the coming releases of Motorola handsets, including the V3X and E1070 models. Musiwave expects to announce additional handset availability in the coming months.

"Musiwave's experience shows that the ability to deploy new services on a large volume of mass market devices is a key success factor," said Guillaume Decugis, vice president, Musiwave operations." Extending the availability of our Smart Radio offering to Java-enabled handsets will help mobile operators continue to drive demand for innovative mobile music services and provides yet another example of Musiwave's ability to bring individualized, intelligent technology to the mass market."

The Smart Radio service allows mobile consumers to access customized and streamed music programming, based on each user's personal tastes. Music from a variety of genres is available, including urban, pop rock, Latin, jazz and hard-rock, among others. Overall, the user experience is designed with simplicity and interactivity in mind, allowing users to skip from one song to another, bookmark favorite songs and directly access specific, themed channels. Another key benefit is that the service can progressively build a customized stream based on the previous songs that have been played. In addition, a web interface will allow users to browse and stream music, and also create personal radio channels that are available on both the PC and mobile handset. Smart Radio is available worldwide on any type of broadband mobile network, including CDMA, UMTS, EDGE and HSDPA.

Musiwave's Smart Radio service will be demonstrated at Openwave's booth during CTIA (#536), along with demonstrations of other Musiwave services, including a new music player which features a full track mobile music subscription service; Music on Demand Service (MODS(TM)) which allows fast, full-length secure downloads of music directly to 3G mobile devices; and Music Wizard(TM), which enables users to identify a song in just a few seconds using their mobile phone. Although all four services are commercially available from Musiwave, Smart Radio is also available pre-integrated with Openwave's MIDAS offering.

Musiwave's industry-leading mobile music platform powers more than 22 live full track music mobile services globally.
