NBC 5 Anchor Mike Snyder and Chief Meteorologist David Finfrock Honored with Silver Circle: For Over 25 Years in Broadcasting

DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas, March 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lone Star Emmy organization honored NBC 5 Anchor Mike Snyder and Chief Meteorologist David Finfrock with the Silver Circle. The Award recognizes outstanding individuals who have devoted 25 years or more to the television industry.

Mike Snyder joined NBC 5/KXAS TV in 1980. Before coming to NBC 5, he reported and anchored for KHOU-TV in Houston, was News Director and Morning Drive anchor for KLIF Radio in Dallas and reported and anchored for KOA-Radio- TV in Denver. Snyder also reported and anchored in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

Snyder began his broadcasting career while in high school in 1971 at KTTS- Radio and TV in Springfield, Missouri. He attended Southwest Missouri State University.

David Finfrock is North Texas' most experienced meteorologist, with over 30 years of forecasting North Texas weather. He has seen the evolution of forecasting go from hand drawn maps to 3-D computer animation. Today's technology, such as StormTrack 5, a million watt doppler radar, provides the most detailed look at approaching storms, making forecasting more accurate and up-to-the-minute.

Finfrock joined NBC 5/KXAS TV, December 21, 1975 as a Meteorologist after spending time as a field researcher on the Juneau Icefield Research Program in Alaska. He actually began working for Harold Taft 30 years ago, December 1975, but didn't begin on air broadcast until January 1976. Finfrock graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology.

Anchor Mike Snyder and Chief Meteorologist David Finfrock can be seen weekdays on NBC 5's 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts Monday through Friday.
