Horse With No Name at Table Mountain Casino

America in Concert March 24

FRESNO, Calif., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- America, one of the most popular bands of the 1970's and 80's will bring their biggest hits ('A Horse With No Name,' 'Sister Golden Hair,' 'Ventura Highway,' and 'Tin Man,' among others) and their newest recordings to their concert in the intimate Table Mountain Casino Event Center on Friday, March 24 at 8:00 p.m.

America founders Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, created the harmonious sound that defined an era. The Table Mountain Casino concert will include all the old favorites and some new work as they introduce their latest release, the 2006 'America & Friends - Live At The Ventura Theatre' to Central Valley fans, many of whom have followed America since their breakout 'America' and 'Homecoming' albums in 1972.

The old favorites from their thirty-four year career and tickets underwritten by the casino to keep them affordable (between $5 and $25) should make March 24 an All American evening!

The concert is also expected to attract many fans of their songs who came of age in that era and who have come to "love their songs even if they don't necessarily know they're by America."

According to L.A. Brown, Director of Marketing at Table Mountain Casino, "America is a perfect fit for our venue. Memorable music, intimate lyrics, and performers the fans really care about and want to be close to. Our up close and personal setting is a great match for the men and their music."

As children in American military families stationed in 1960's England while the Beatles and Rolling Stones were coming of age, Beckley, Bunnell and their other founding member Dan Peek, met at a London High School and formed their youthful acoustic trio, 'America.' Their first album was released in Europe to moderate success. After adding their breakout hit 'A Horse with No Name,' Warner Brothers re-released the album which saw immediate popularity in the United States and Europe, going platinum with the other America favorites 'I Need You,' 'Sandman,' and 'Riverside.' When the three young men and their band moved back to the states later in 1972, they recorded and released their second album, appropriately named Homecoming, with such favorites as 'Ventura Highway.'

Over the years 'America' has teamed with former Beatles producer George Martin, moved into soft-pop with 'You Can Do Magic' and 'The Border,' and released nearly 200 songs in more than twenty-five albums.

Beginning with their first album, America always been noted for its special acoustic style. Growing up in 60's electric guitar bands, they switched to acoustic music at the end of that decade, but kept their unique rock-and-roll styles. "I think our style was basically kind of an electric style that was played on an acoustic guitar rather than the other way around. I think that it has been a signature of our sound," says Beckley.

This acoustic difference and the fine harmony the trio developed created the unique stamp that would become their trademark -- and the standard for '70s music.

They have taken their sound -- and their musical excellence -- to the farthest corners of the globe and created converts to a softer sound that speaks so uniquely of the American West. Even though they began America in England, the feel and sound of America has always been something straight out of our beautiful western scenery and independent western culture: a perfect fit, America and their Horse with No Name and Table Mountain Casino.
